ミッフィーのたのしいお花畑 ディック・ブルーナが描くお花と絵本の世界展
This year marks 60 years since the birth of Miffy. Her creator, Dick Bruna, is one of the Netherlands' most
famous graphic designers and picture story book creators. His works, represented by Miffy, featuring carefully
considered simple, bold lines, the six "Bruna colors", and familiar characters, have come to be loved all over
the world. This exhibition highlights the flowers and plants depicted in "Miffy's Bicycle" (1982) and "Poppy
Pig's Garden" (1977), and his work on paperback covers which enabled the formulation of his technique and
unique style. "Flower Book" (1975), unpublished in Japan, will also be exhibited. This book consists only of
illustrations of 12 varieties of flowers and their names. Bruna tells readers, "If you want to know more, where
they bloom, how they smell, your father and mother will tell you." Through Bruna's pictures, tell your own
story, and let the flowers of conversation bloom.

Gallé vs Daum vs Lalique
ガレvsドームvsラリック ガラスアート三大巨匠展
Émile Gallé and the brothers Auguste and Antonin Daum were active during the period of Art Nouveau in the
late 19th century. For many years they worked in friendly rivalry, and shone in the Grand Prix at the 1900
Paris Exposition. During the Art Deco period of the 1920s, the jewelry artist René Lalique turned his hand to
glass works, and rapidly became the focus of attention.
See the quintessence of glass art as this exhibition presents works of three great masters of glass art, Galle,
Daum and Lalique, through the themes of patterns and technique.
When: Until Sun. 1 Nov. (10:00 - 17:00); Closed Mondays (in the event it falls on a national holiday, closed
the next business day instead).

The Foreign Artists Exhibition - 30th Anniversary Show – Now Accepting Applications!
外国人芸術作品展 ‒ 30周年 - 作品募集中!
That's right, we are about to complete our third decade of exhibitions, held with the kind support of
NIC, and are looking forward to another memorable event (this year, from 3 to 8 November). The
Central Japan International Society (CJIS) has been organizing this exhibition annually since 1986 and,
with some of the original founding artists still participating, have established a strong tradition of
displaying a wide range of works by foreign artists living in the Chubu Region for local citizens to
enjoy. This year, having reached FAE 30 we are determined to go all out for an even better show. To
this end we extend a warm welcome to any and all foreign artists in the region to apply for
participation (No need to apply if you've already taken part in earlier FAEs, you'll be contacted
automatically). If you paint, draw, print, sculpt, pot, or shoot (photos!), or do any other fine artwork,
including computer graphics, why not take the opportunity to show others what you can do.
Application forms and detailed guidelines are available from the FAE website at
www.nic-nagoya.or.jp/fae; or e-mail [email protected], fax (052) 774 0483, or call 090 1275
