Movie Theatre Schedule
年祭
A well-known unique festival where villagers carry on their
shoulders a portable shrine which bears a 2m-long phallus-shaped
wooden sculpture. They offer this huge phallus to the shrine praying
for world peace, the growth of all things, and a good harvest. If you
are in Japan only for a short time, this is a festival you should not
miss.
When: Thursday, March 15 (10:00 - 16:00; parade 14:00 - 15:30)
Where: Tagata Jinja 田縣神社, Komaki City
Access: A 5 minute walk from Tagata-jinja-mae Station 田県神社前,
on the Meitetsu Komaki Line; from Heian Dori Subway Station take
the Kami-iida Line bound for Inuyama.

The Night of the AdEaters is a show that now runs in more that 40
countries worldwide dedicated to showing the most amazing,
funny, shocking commercials from all over the world on the Big
Screen and in a crazy atmosphere! Fling open a window on the
world and get a taste of what advertisers around the world serve
up. The show has English and Japanese subtitles. Be aware that no
censorship is involved: alcohol, tobacco, and sex are present.
When: Saturday, March 24 (16:30 - 20:00 (approx); doors open
16:00)
Where: Winc Aichi ウィンクあいち; located behind Midland Square
- a 3 minute walk from JR Nagoya Station.

AGGN Lecture Meeting - AGGN講演会
Mr. James Goater will be presenting a lecture titled the “Twelve
Notable Temples of Nagoya”. Born in Southampton, England,
James Goater worked for a United Nations organization in Nagoya
for 27 years, during which time wrote a large number of articles (in
English) for local magazines on the subject of Nagoya history and
culture (mostly architecture). Since 2008 he has lived in Japan on an
artist's visa working on water colour studies of disappearing
traditional architecture.
Admission: 700 Yen; AGGN Members and Students 500 Yen.

Lowrider Car Show Japan Tour 2012
ザ・ローライダーカーショウ ジャパン ツアー
A lowrider is a car or truck, often a classic car from the 50s & 60's, with a modified
suspension system. See the best lowriders Japan has to offer. The highlight of the
show is the ‘car hop’ competition.
When: Sunday, March 25 (11:00 - 18:00)
Where: Port Messe Nagoya ポートメッセなごや, Exhibition Hall 1
Access: A 5 minute walk from the Aonami Line’s Kinjo-futo Station (the last stop).
Admission: Adults 3000 Yen, children 1000 Yen; advanced tickets available from

Inuyama Castle Spring Festival 犬山祭
When: Saturday, April 7 & Sunday, April 8 (09:30 - 21:30)
Where: Inuyama City, Aichi
Access: Located near Meitetsu Inuyama Station; however the castle is best-reached
from Inuyama-yuen Station 犬山遊園.
Traditional festival floats are pulled through the city’s cherry blossomed streets;
between 18:00 and 21:30 these floats are illuminated. The festival is centered around
Haritsuna Jinja, located down the hill from Inuyama Castle - Japan’s oldest. The castle
is open (09:00 to 17:00) , admission is 500 Yen for adults and 100 Yen for children
under 15.
The Iyeyasu Parade 家康行列
This is the main event of Okazaki’s annual cherry blossom festival. More than 700
samurai warriors led by Japan’s most prominent historical figure, Okazaki-born
Iyeyasu TOKUGAWA will parade through the streets and perform a mock battle on
the banks of the river.

名古屋フィルハーモニー交響楽団演奏会情報
Aichi-born pianist Hibiki Tamura, a 2007 Long-Thibaud prize winner, will be playing
Beethoven’s “Emperor” with Scottish conductor Rory Macdonald, who will be
making his debut in Japan.
