今月に日本で予定されていたコンサートを中止せざるをえない状況となり、とても、とて
も心苦しく思っています。日本を訪れることは私の音楽人生の中でも最も重要なことのひ
とつです。日本の聴衆とコンサートホール、そして日本にいる友人たちや日本食をこよな
く愛しているからです――つまるところ、私は日本に関わるすべてが好きなのです！共演
者のコニー・シーも私も、今回の演奏旅行を大変楽しみにしていました。
余程の緊急事態にならないかぎり、私が日本ツアーを延期するなどということはありえま
せん。しかし残念ながら、急を要する一身上の都合、つらい事情により、ロンドンにしば
らくのあいだ留まらねばならなくなりました。聴衆の皆さま、主催者の皆さま、そして友
人たちに、切にお詫び申し上げます。出来るだけ早く日本を再び訪れ、皆さまにお目にか
かれますように。

I am so, so sorry to have to postpone my concerts in Japan this month. My visits to
Japan are among the highlights of my musical life: I love the audiences, the halls, my
Japanese friends, the food - I love everything about Japan, in fact! Both Connie Shih
and I were hugely looking forward to our trip.
Nothing less than an emergency would make me postpone a Japanese tour. But alas, I
do now have a personal emergency, a painful one which urgently requires my presence
in London during these days. I apologize hugely to audiences, promoters and friends;
and we shall work to reschedule these concerts as soon as possible.
