Waseem Kotoub was born in Birmingham and received most of his musical education from
Vladimir Zaretisky. He has already gained a solid pianistic experience. He was awarded a
scholarship from KRSF to study at the Royal Academy of Music in London with Diana Ketler
which he graduated from with merit and got his two masters in piano performance and the LRAM
in piano teaching. He has participated in several master classes with eminent musicians such as
Daniel Barenboim, Imre Rohman, Christopher Elton, Victor Bunin, Zoltan Kotich, Paskal
Nimorofski and Petras Geniušas.
As a special prize winner of IBLA piano competition in Italy, first prize winner of KRSF
competition he has been playing with several orchestras such as the Syrian national symphony
orchestra and Brandenburg national orchestra under the baton of many conductors such as Solhi
Al-Wadi,Ahmad Al-Saiedi(director of Egyptian opera house), and Sebastian Wiegle(Daniel
Barenboim’s collaborator).
He has been chosen to play in many special occasions such as the final recital of the Bartok
festival and the opening night of the Syrian opera house. He has already played as a soloist or as a
chamber music player in prestigious International Festivals and concert halls such as Bartok
Festival in Hungary, Babylon festival, Western-Eastern Divan Workshop in Germany, Dulwich
College Recital hall, David Josefowitz recital hall and Duke’s Hall in London. He has performed
in various venues in London, Hungary, Italy, Germany, Lebanon, Oman, and Jordan.
He recorded Walid's Hajjar piano works.
Waseem has made television and radio appearances in Syria and in Germany on DW channel and
national radio channel 3.
He got a diploma in medicine and managed to merge between Medicine and Music and used
Music Therapy to communicate and develop people with special needs. He has worked with
autistic children using music as a mean of communicating and skills developing tool. He got his
master in Health system and hospital management from Liverpool school of tropical medicine.
Waseem Kotoub is an Artistic Director and head of the jury of the Second Solhi Al Wadi
International Piano Competition for Youth and acts as head of keyboard department at the high
institute of music in Damascus. Waseem is the arts project manager at British council.

イギリス・バーミンガム生まれ。ウラジーミル・ザレツキーより音楽の手ほどきを受け、確固たるピ
アニストとしての経験を積む。KRSFからのスカラシップを得て、英国王立音楽院にてダイアナ・ケト
ラーのもとで学び、ピアノ演奏およびピアノ教育資格の修士を取得する。ダニエル・バレンボイム、
イムレ・ローマン、クリストファー・エルトン、ヴィクター・ブーニン、ゾルタン・コティック、パ
スカル・ネミロフスキ、ペトラス・ゲニューシャス等のマスタークラスを受講。
IBLAピアノコンクール(イタリア)やKRSFコンクール第1位として、ソルヒ・アルワディ、アーマッド・
アル・サイーディー、セバスティアン・ヴァイグレ等の指揮のもと、シリア国立交響楽団やブランデ
ンブルグ国立管弦楽団などのオーケストラと協演。
バルトークフェスティバルのファイナルリサイタルやシリアオペラハウスのオープニングナイトの演
奏者に選ばれる。また、ハンガリーのバルトークフェスティバル、ドイツのバビロンフェスティバル、
ウェスト＝イースタン・ディヴァンワークショップ、イギリスのダリッジ・カレッジ・リサイタルホール、
デヴィッド・ジョセフォヴィッツリサイタルホール、デュークスホールの他、レバノンやオマーン、ヨルダンな
どの著名なフェスティバルやコンサートホールにてソリスト、室内楽の一員として演奏する。
ワリード・ハヤールのピアノ作品のレコーディング。
DWチャンネルや国営ラジオチャンネル3など、シリアやドイツにてテレビ、ラジオに出演。
医学の学位も持ち、医学と音楽を融合させて、特別支援を必要とする人たちとの対話や発達的視点を
踏まえた音楽療法を実践している。
また、自閉症児には、音楽をコミュニケーションと能力開発の手段として用いた音楽療法を行ってい
る。
リバプール熱帯医学学校にて、医療制度および病院経営の修士を取得する。
ソルヒ・アル・ワディ国際ピアノコンクール芸術監督および審査委員長。High Institute of Music in
Damascus 鍵盤学科主任。ブリティッシュ・カウンシルにて、アートプロジェクトマネージャーを務め
る。
