日本では再生医療関連の法制化が進み、同分野の先進国として、世界に向けて展開普及への貢献が大い
に期待されています。一方、オーストラリアの研究開発能力は世界でも高く評価されており、優れた企業、大
学、研究機関が、同分野においても活躍しています。今後の産業化に向け、国際的な協業の必要性が更に
強く認識されています。
この度、弊オーストラリア貿易促進庁（Austrade）は、再生医療イノベーションフォーラム(FIRM) と共に、
「オーストラリア再生医療セミナー」を下記の通り開催いたします。オーストラリアを代表する企業、研究機関
を招き、オーストラリアの再生医療業界や各々の技術、研究開発についてご紹介し、日豪の協働について提
案します。セミナー後のレセプションでは、オーストラリアの食材やワインをお楽しみいただきながら、オースト
ラリアからの参加者との情報交換、そして交流の場としてご利用いただければ幸いです。
また、神戸の会場では、セミナーと並行して、オーストラリアの各企業、研究機関と個別に面談いただくビジ
ネスマッチングの機会を設けています。

1. Neuropathic pain, a chronic nerve pain that occurs in 5% of the general population in developed
countries. Dr Vickers has published the safety and proof of stem cells to treat neurological pain in the
Journal of Pain Research (2014).
2. Alzheimers disease that has neuronal degeneration and chronic inflammation. Dr Vickers has
published safety and proof of treatment (Open Journal of Dentistry and Oral medicine, 2015) for
chronic systemic inflammation using quercetin, a natural compound found in Artemisiae Capillari
Flos and Crataegi Fructus
3. Stem cell technology to treat hair loss. The company’s results in its first trial showed outstanding results
to stimulate stem cells for hair growth.

Cynata Therapeutics Ltd is an Australian stem cell and regenerative medicine company that is developing
a therapeutic mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) platform technology, Cymerus™, using discoveries made at
the University of Wisconsin-Madison (UWM). UWM is a world-renowned leader in stem cell research, in
particular for the work by Professor James Thomson's group, which included the first successful isolation of
human embryonic stem cells in 1998, and the derivation of induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) from
human adult cells in 2007. Professor Igor Slukvin, a co-founder of Cynata, was also a member of the team
that conducted UWM's pioneering iPSC research.
Cynata’s proprietary technology utilizes iPSCs originating from an adult donor as the starting material for
manufacturing the MSC therapeutic product. The proprietary Cymerus technology overcomes a critical
shortcoming in existing methods of production of MSCs for therapeutic use, which is the ability to achieve
consistent and economic manufacture at commercial scale. Notably, the technology is also highly
relevant to the manufacture of engineered MSCs which expands the range of therapeutic possibilities,
including in the treatment of cancer.

proprietary stem cell and immuno-oncology technologies to produce a portfolio of innovative cell-based
therapies to address unmet medical needs in the human and animal health markets with a focus on
musculoskeletal disorders and oncology disease.
The company has recently commenced two Phase I studies: Progenza is an allogeneic off-the-shelf
adipose stem cell therapy to treat osteoarthritis and other musculoskeletal conditions and RGSH4K is an
