これで“メモリースティック”のアップグレードは完了です。
アップグレードしたAIBOマインド2の“メモリースティック”
をAIBOに入れ、背中のポーズボタンを押すと、AIBOは進化
したAIBOマインド2で活動を開始します。

AIBOマインドでお使いのステーションマーカー（緑と青）は、
AIBOマインド2のAIBOでは認識することができません。付属
のステーションマーカーに取り替えてください。
AIBOマインドのAIBOでは、AIBOマインド2用のステーショ
ンマーカー
（黒と白）
は認識できません。

ソフトウェアをインストール する
ご注意
インストールする前に、管理者またはAdministratorグループの
メンバーとしてログオンしてください。

付属のCD−ROM（黒）をCD-ROMドライブにセットする。
自動的にインストーラーが起動し、「ERS-7 Software
Installation Menu」画面が表示されます。

2 AIBOマインドのデータをバックアップするフォルダを変え
たい場合は、［参照］をクリックして保存先を指定する。
保存先を指定しなかった場合は、PCの「マイ ドキュメン
ト」内にある「AIBO MIND1 Back up」フォルダに保存さ
れます。
3 お使いのPCの“メモリースティック”ドライブを指定す
る。

ユーザーガイド（PDF）を参照するにはAdobe Readerのイン

をご覧ください。
すでにインストールされている場合は、改めてインストールす

x What’s new with this upgrade
When you upgrade to the AIBO MIND 2 software, you can enjoy
the following new functions. For more information, refer to the

When “The upgrade is complete” dialog box appears,
click “Finish”.
You have now completed the “Memory Stick” media upgrade.
When you insert the “Memory Stick” media upgraded with the
AIBO MIND 2 software into the AIBO robot and press the pause
button on its back, the AIBO robot activates with the new AIBO
MIND 2 software.

z Before the AIBO robot activates
Before activating for the first time after the “Memory Stick” media
has been upgraded, the AIBO robot states only once the memories,
maturity level, etc., preserved from the AIBO MIND software.
This only occurs the first time the AIBO robot is activated, so make
sure you don’t miss it!
x Data that is erased when you upgrade
When you perform the upgrade, the data listed below is backed
up to your computer and then erased from the AIBO robot’s
“Memory Stick” media. To specify the location where data is
backed up, refer to step 4 under “Upgrading the AIBO MIND
Software on the “Memory Stick” media”.
• Photos saved on the “Memory Stick” media
• Data from the AIBO EYES feature (mail settings, messages,
and voice signature)
• Custom data

Restoring the AIBO MIND software from the

Note that if you restore the AIBO MIND software, all data

*2 If your computer connects to an access point via wireless LAN, it
must have a wireless LAN function that conforms to the IEEE802.11b
standard. When using the “AIBO EYES” feature, either the modem or
the access point must be equipped with a router function.
*3 An “Always-on” connection, such as FTTH, ADSL, or cable
connection, is recommended.
*4 The POP server must support the UIDL command (which displays a
list of IDs assigned to each e-mail). Check with your contracted
service provider to determine whether your e-mail account supports
this function.
*5 Depending on CPU performance and the wireless LAN environment,
music, recorded video and sound may cut out during playback.
*6 This environment is recommended when using the video recording
function.
If your system does not meet these requirements, it may cause
problems such as recorded sounds and voices frequently cutting out
and video being slow to refresh.
Installing Software
Note
Replacing the Station Marker
The station marker used with the AIBO MIND software (green
and blue) cannot be recognized by the AIBO robot using the
AIBO MIND 2 software. Replace it with the station marker
supplied with this upgrade kit.
Note that the AIBO robot using the AIBO MIND software cannot
recognize the station marker for use with the AIBO MIND 2
software (black and white).
For more information on exchanging the station marker, refer to
the “User’s Guide (Basic)” for the AIBO robot ERS-7 (PDF) on
the supplied CD-ROM (black).
Before installing the software, log on to Windows as the
Administrator or as a user with Administrator privileges.

Insert the supplied CD-ROM (black) in the computer’s
CD-ROM drive.
The installer automatically launches and the “ERS-7 Software
Installation Menu” screen appears.

To enjoy the “AIBO EYES” feature, “AIBO Photo Album”, and
“AIBO Entertainment Player” software with the wireless LAN
function of the AIBO robot, you first need to install the following
software on your computer.
If you only plan to use “AIBO EYES” feature and “AIBO Photo
Album”, you need only install “AIBO WLAN Manager 2”.
To use "AIBO Entertainment Player", you must install all of the
software below.

Click [AIBO WLAN Manager 2].
The “Welcome to the InstallShield Wizard for AIBO WLAN
Manager 2” screen appears.
Follow the instructions that appear on the screen.

• If AIBO WLAN Manager is already installed, a message appears
asking you to uninstall the older version. Follow the on-screen
instructions to uninstall the older version, and then install AIBO
WLAN Manager 2.
• The AIBO WLAN Manager 2 is also compatible with the AIBO
MIND software.
When the “InstallShield Wizard Complete” message appears,
click [Finish] to complete the installation of “AIBO WLAN
Manager 2”.
After configuring settings for the network and “AIBO EYES”
feature, you can use the “AIBO EYES” feature and “AIBO Photo
Album” functions. For details, refer to the “User’s Guide
(PC·Network)” for the AIBO robot ERS-7 (PDF) on the supplied
CD–ROM (black).
To view the “User’s Guide (PC·Network)” for the AIBO robot
ERS-7 (PDF), you need to have Adobe Reader installed. If it is
not installed on your computer, proceed to step 8.
To install “AIBO Entertainment Player”, proceed to step 3.
Click [DirectX 9].
The “Welcome to setup for DirectX” screen appears.
Select the check box by [I Agree] and click [Next].
Follow the instructions that appear on the screen.
When the “Installation Complete” message appears, click
[Close] to complete the installation of “DirectX”.
Your computer may need to be restarted after installation is
complete.

Install Microsoft Windows Media Player 9.
Download and install this software from Microsoft’s web site.

Differences between the AIBO MIND and
The AIBO MIND 2 software differs from the AIBO MIND software
on the following points. For more information, refer to the “User’s
Guide (Basic)” for the AIBO robot ERS-7 (PDF) on the supplied
CD–ROM (black).
• The AIBO EYES feature and the AIBO Photo Album cannot
be used at bedtime.
• When you say “Owner registration”, “Name registration”, or
“Take a picture”, the AIBO robot does not immediately start
playing the voice guide but waits for you to touch its head
sensor.
• Up to 3 people can register with owner registration. The
original owner registered with the AIBO MIND software is
registered as the first owner.
• Custom data from the AIBO MIND software cannot be used.

media reader/writer.
2 If you want to change the folder that the AIBO MIND
software data is backed up to, click “Browse” and specify a
backup folder.
If you do not specify a folder, data will be backed up to the
“AIBOMIND1Backup” folder in the “My Documents” folder on
your computer.
3 Select the “Memory Stick” media drive on your computer.

Select “Upgrade”, and then click “Next”.
Read the “END-USER LICENSE AGREEMENT”, select
“Agree”, and then click “Next”.
Click [AIBO Entertainment Player].
The “Welcome to the InstallShield Wizard for AIBO
Entertainment Player” screen appears.
Follow the instructions that appear on the screen.
When the “InstallShield Wizard Complete” message appears,
click [Finish] to complete the installation of “AIBO Entertainment
Player”.

Insert the supplied “AIBO MIND 2 software upgrade
CD–ROM (white)” into the CD–ROM drive on your
computer.

About This Upgrade
Using the supplied upgrade CD–ROMs, your AIBO
Entertainment Robot ERS-7 can evolve (upgrade) from the AIBO
MIND to the AIBO MIND 2 software.

* The following User’s Guides for use with the AIBO MIND 2 software
are included on the supplied CD-ROM (black) in PDF format.
• “User’s Guide (Basic)” for the AIBO robot ERS-7
• “User’s Guide (PC·Network)” for the AIBO robot ERS-7

Install Acrobat Reader.
You must have Adobe Reader installed to view the User’s
Guide PDF files. Please download and install this free software
from the Adobe Systems, Inc. web site. For details, visit the
Adobe Systems, Inc. web site (http://www.adobe.com/).
If this software is already installed on your computer, you do not
need to install it again.
You have now completed the necessary software installation.
Before using each function, verify the network settings for “AIBO
WLAN Manager 2”. For more on configuring network settings,
refer to the “User’s Guide (PC·Network)” for the AIBO robot
ERS-7 (PDF) on the supplied CD–ROM (black).
