Hope to see you there! 第17回中高生海外体験旅行中止 平成23年度総会 Overseas Experience Trip Cancelled KIS General Meeting 残念！ 3月11日に起きた大地震の影響により、第17回中高生 海外体験旅行参加者の安全と諸般の事情を考慮し、中止 いたしました。 ▲ホストファミリーへの手紙を書いている参加者 Participants prepare letters for their host families. Due to the major earthquake that occurred off the coast of Miyagi Prefecture on March 11, KIS has decided to cancel the 17th Overseas Experience Trip to San Francisco. 平成23年度の総会は、5月中旬に開催する予定です。 詳細は、後日ご連絡します。23年度の事業を計画してい ます。会員の方々のご意見・ご要望を届けてくださいま すようお願いします。 This year's General Meeting will be held in midMay. (TEL: 29-3908, [email protected]) ▲英語の早口言葉は難しいな！ English tongue twisters are difficult! 日本語でコミュニケーションを！ Let's Communicate in Japanese! マインテックより「JICA研修員滞在中 に３回の日本語教室を」、との要請に応 え、２月１６日・２２日、３月１日に日 本語教室を行いました。 ドミニックさんにお手伝いいただいて 私のひどい英語を正しい言葉に変換し研 修員の皆さんにお伝え頂いたり、聞き取 れない言葉を教えていただきました。心 より感謝申し上げます。 ６ヵ国８名のＪＩＣＡ研修員の皆さん は、どなたも１回も休むことなく参加さ れました。小坂町滞在が３週間というこ とで、日本語を使う場面が少ないであろ うことからオーラル・コミュニケーショ ンはあいさつや便利な表現に止め、日本 語の表記、ひらがな・かたかな・漢字に ついてお話したり、数字やカレンダーの 読み方、そしてそれを使って自身の年齢 や誕生日を言ってみるなど、短時間で楽 ▲「お国はどこですか？」：研修員は会話の練習をします。 しめる内容を心がけました。 "Where are you from?": Conversation practice 女性陣に年齢は・・と思いましたが、 臆することなく「私は４３歳です！」と教えてくださいました。 私はドミニックさんの提案で永遠の１８歳ということにいたしました！！ 研修員の皆さんが小坂を出発する日、講習会がありお見送りできませんでした。日本語教室を楽しん でいただけたのならよかったですが・・・（T.I.） In response to MINETEC's request for three Japanese lessons during the JICA participants' stay, KIS held Japanese classes for the group on February 16, February 22, and March 1. Dominic assisted with these lessons by helping me convey my thoughts to the JICA participants in English and clarifying questions or comments that I couldn't understand. I'm so grateful to him for that. None of the eight participants from six countries missed a single class. Because the group's stay was only three weeks and I figured that they wouldn't have that many opportunities to use their Japanese, I limited oral communication to ▲JICA研修員のみなさんと伊藤先生で「ハイ、チーズ！」 greetings and useful phrases. I also JICA participants pose for a photo with Ito-sensei. spoke to them about the Japanese writing systems of hiragana, katakana, and kanji, taught Japanese numbers and months, and asked them to tell me their birthdays. I wanted to make the lessons enjoyable since we had such a short time together. I was certain that the females wouldn't want to reveal their age, but one of them stated proudly, "I'm 43 years old!" I took Dominic's suggestion and told them that I was eternally 18 years old!!! I was unable to bid the JICA participants farewell on their departure date because I had a training session that morning, but I sincerely hope that they enjoyed their Japanese classes. (T.I.) 兜を折ってみましょうか？ Want to make a helmet out of paper? ２月１８日（金）に６ヵ国８名のJICA研修員に少し でも日本文化を体験していただくために「日本文化の 体験」を開催しました。挨拶ゲームで始まったこの事 業を通して、折り紙や茶道、書道などの簡単な作法や 書き方を体験したり、日常、日本の家庭にあるお菓子 とお茶もいただきました。またJICA研修員のみなさん は浴衣を着付けてもらい、素敵な笑顔やポーズをしな がらたくさんの写真を撮っていました。 多くの方々に協力をいただき、少しでも多くの日本 文化を紹介するができたのではないかと思います。み なさん、ご協力ありがとうございます。 On February 18, KIS held "Experience Japanese Culture" in hopes of giving the eight JICA participants a taste of traditional Japanese culture. Through this event, which began with a ▲「折り鶴」に挑戦！ greeting game, we explained how to do origami, A participant attempts a paper crane. calligraphy, and a simple tea ceremony. The participants also sampled typical Japanese snacks and tea, tried on yukata, and took many photos with those in attendance. Thanks to the many individuals who assisted with this event, I feel like we were able to introduce a bit of Japanese culture. The JICA participants were all very upbeat, friendly, and enthusiastic, and our time together ended before ▲書道の体験コーナー we knew it. I'm glad that the paper cranes, which Participants learn Japanese calligraphy. everyone said were difficult to make, and the tea and rice crackers that we had were able to become one of your memories of Japan.
