Dear OCSI parents,
It is hard to believe it is already the end of first quarter for this school year! I have been
meaning to send out some kind of newsletter for awhile, but between all the typhoons, it
seems that things have been a little busy.
As a ptf we have helped with a number of school events which I would like to let you know
about. There was orientation as well as the Open House night at the beginning of the school
year. We helped with a senior night which was an informational time for senior parents
about this very important last year of High School. We helped with an informational night
about High School testing and preparation for college. A number of the 4th and 5th grade
parents helped with the camp. And we have parents of members of the sports teams that
are helping to raise money for the sports events.
In addition, our class moms have been busy. Some of them have organized meeting times
for the class moms which has been a great place for parents to get to know each other and
for them to talk about many different things. I continue to be amazed at all the ideas that
parents have and the things that they are thinking about in terms of the school and their
children’s education. I hope that these kind of conversations will continue!
One thing we started last year and are continuing is the Monday morning coffee hour.
Please feel free to join us any Monday. I am actually looking for ideas on particular topics
that parents might want to discuss informally. If you have ideas, please let me or your class
mom know about it.
New things: 1) We have started a prayer time the 1st and 3rd Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. 2) We
are starting English lessons on Tuesday and Thursday from 1:45 to 2:45. Mrs. Horikiri
taught English for 8 years and has a lot of experience. Mrs. McCollum has a background in
criminal justice but is a very involved OCSI mom and is happy to help parents who want to
learn.
Upcoming events:
October 26 parent teacher conferences. This is a great time to connect with your child’s
teachers.
October 30 6 to 8 p.m. college night for high school students and parents. This is a time
when representatives from different colleges will be here on campus to introduce you to their
colleges. It is a great information gathering time.
November 2 Cafe Dolce. Talent night with the senior class providing food and drinks to help
raise money for their class. Come and support them!
November 17 Walkathon! Many parents have already submitted volunteer forms and I think
it will be a really great event this year. Please encourage ALL your children to help raise
money for their school!
One last important notice. PLEASE CHECK THE OCSI WEB PAGE. As much as possible,
we are trying to keep current information on the web page. Also, your teachers should be
posting regularly about classes and assignments. There is a superintendent’s corner where
Mr. Hadley gives new (and old) information. It will be good for all of us to get into the habit of
using the web page regularly.

OCSI保護者の皆様へ
信じがたいことにもう本年度の1/4学期が終わりです！ ニュースレターを出したいと常々気がかりでいたのですが、たくさんの台風に挟まれて色々忙しかったのです。
PTFではいくつかの学校のイベントを補佐しましたのでそれらについて報告しておきます。 今年度の初めにオリエンテーションとオープンハウスがありました。 そして、１２年生の保護者に対して”Senior
Night”高校の最終学年という大切な時期にあたり説明会を開催しました。 さらに高校生生徒と保護者を対象に”Information
Night”として、大学進学に備えたテストや進路などの説明会を行いました。 ４，５年生の幾人かの保護者はキャンプに同行しお手伝いしましたし、スポーツチームの保護者はチームの為の
資金造成に尽力しています。
加えて、クラスマム（クラスペアレント）たちはとても活発です。 中にはすでに、クラスのお母さん達の懇親会を開いてお互いを知り合う場を設け、いろんな話題をお話できる良
い機会だったようです。
親御さんたちの持つさまざまなアイデアや、学校、教育に対する考えの多様性に、私は驚きの連続です。 このような対話が今後も続くことを願っています！
昨年から引き続き行っていることのひとつに、月曜の朝コーヒーの時間 があります。毎週月曜の朝ですどうぞ遠慮なく参加してください。 それから、何か気軽に話し合いたい事柄が皆さんの中にはあるのではないかと思っています。そのような特定の
話題がありましたら、私かクラスマムにお知らせください。
新企画 その１） お祈りの時間 毎月第１、第３(火) 朝８：３０ ～
２） 英語レッスン 毎週 火、木 １：４５ ～ ２：４５ ミセス ホリキリ は英語教師暦８年の実績がおありです。 ミセス マッコラム は米国内で司法局関係の経歴がおありですが、学校に貢献してくださっているOCSIの母親のお一人で、英語を
学びたい方に喜んで教えて頂けることになりました。
イベント情報 10/26(金) 保護者面談 先生方との関わりに良い機会です。
10/30（火）6pm-8pm カレッジナイト 高校生生徒、保護者対象。 いくつもの大学から代表者が来校して、それぞれの
大学の紹介をしていただけます。 貴重な情報収集の機会になります。
11/02（金）5pm～ カフェ ドルチェ １２年生主催のタレントショー。 資金造成のため食べ物、飲み物を販売します。
ぜひ来場して支援してやって下さい！
11/17(土) ウオーカソン！ すでに多くの保護者の皆さんからボランティアの申し込みを受けています。おかげさまで今
年はとくに素晴らしく上手くいくと思います。 どうかお子様達を励まして より多くの資金が学校の為に集まるようにご協
力をお願いいたします。

私達はできるだけ最新の情報を掲載できるように心がけています。 それぞれの担任教師は自身のページに宿題やクラスのお知らせを常に更新しなければならないのです。 学校長のコーナーもあり、ミスター ハドレーが新旧の情報を掲載しています。
私達全員がウエブページを常に見る習慣をつけることはとても良い事だと思います。
