タニア、北はトルコから南はスーダンに至る地域を指す。もともとはヨーロッパから見た
地理的概念である」
（猪口孝他編『政治学事典』弘文堂、2000 年、744 頁）とされていま
す。中東は、過去 30～40 年間に他のどの地域を合わせたよりも暴力と紛争を経験してお
り、地域内の紛争はその境界をはるかに越えて国際的重要性を持っています。例えば、2010
年 12 月に起きたチュニジアの「ジャスミン革命」に端を発する「アラブの春」は、いま
だ収束を見ず、現政権に対する抗議・デモ活動はアラブ世界を超えて広がっています。
本書は中東国家の安定性への内外の脅威、及び国内・国外における安全保障の確保の試
