Calm & Punk is a flyer released by Gas As Interface Co., Ltd., named after Calm & Punk Gallery that the company runs. Japan is a
country that embraces the contradiction between Calmness and Punkness and draws a lot of attention from all over the world.
However, little information we think is revealed to the world when it comes to the field of graphical art. Calm & Punk introduces you
some of the exceptional and talented Japanese artists, as well as the latest activities brought forward by Gas As Interface.

Japanese dotty pixel designer that dots between dots. Started a web site, ten_do, right after 11.9.2001. Dots lots of dots
everyday, with sexy, domestic, crazy-stoic attitudes as a pixel design originator. Also active as a part of "Clatic", an haute
couture, handmade and classical rap team formed with Jun-Jun, his wife. Will release a GASBOOK in the spring of 2008.

The ultimate end of the Silk Road at the Ring Road Seven 8 Shindaita area in Setagaya-ku, Tokyo, has been known for being one of the most heated battlefields of the “ramen wars” on the Ring Road
Seven (or Kan-nana). Over the boiling steam of the rise and fall of ramen bars, “Second-class Eurasian Cuisine, Original Hinomaru-ken (Chukyu Eurasia Ryori Ganso Hinomaru-ken)” wanders afloat
tonight, as it has been. From outside, a dim tableau depicting a circus seems the only trace of its 21-year-old foundation. But, once inside, your sense of time acts up, and up. Hanging flags of all nations
decorate corners of the restaurant, and none of the pendulum clocks that you see behind the flags is correct. The rather gloomy premises, with Showa kayo - pop music from the Showa era - as backdrop,
are filled with a plethora of vividly coloured artefacts and objects (treasures?) from the world, collected by Pépé André, the owner, quite a figure among the people in the know. If it is not a circus, it is some
kind of show tent situated outside the time. Noteworthy is the inevitable presence of Pépé. The gentle gestures of his, magnified by his tall and longhaired presence, are indeed those of a circus master
from the Mainland.

Hyakkaten (Umeda), LOVELESS, BARNEYS NEW YORK, etc.

20,000,000 fragments, the fashion brand produced by
Gas As Interface presented its 2008 spring-summer
collection.
The theme of this forth season since its inauguration is
“antithetical II”. Digging further the “antithetical”,
theme from the previous season, it integrates the
unpredictable “surprise” and “pleasure” in a same suit
of clothes into its collection items.
Traditional versus ethnic - these two motifs are
contrasted to express the seasonal theme, together with
a large palette of techniques so characteristic of
20,000,000 fragments such as elaborated original
materials, or experimental and extremely precise
patterns, prints and colours.
The items can be found in Japan at Isetan (Shinjuku) ,
Hankyu Hyakkaten (Umeda), LOVELESS, BARNEYS
NEW YORK, etc.

Aujourd’hui, Gas As Interface prépare différents nouveaux projets pour 10 ans à venir.
For 10 years we have been active in informing our users with new design tendencies and art movements through GASBOOK. Today,
Gas As Interface Co., Ltd. is preparing a variety of projects for the next 10 years.
This new GAS BOOK, no longer restrained as a printing medium, will develop into an apparatus, or foundation, that links the creativity
to the society through information delivery, product development, business support, etc.
As the first of these projects, we are preparing a website, GASBOOK.net, that archives the creative minds that we want to introduce.
GASBOOK.net will focus on the following four key concepts – “human”, “information”, “works” and “commodities.” It will aim at
generating a sphere in which everyone can “know”, “grasp” and “seize” them. We are now working hard to deliver this by the spring
2008. Details will be available soon, so stay tuned!
