K obo O riza is a factory that seeks

innovative weaving. New brand“ ITO”
which means“thread”in Japanese,
was born, integrating mode, and
professionalism and technology unique to
O riza.“ ITO”can also mean“ Very much
so”in old Japanese that somehow
enhances the brand’

工房織座は、綿織物の産地・四国今治で「織物の原点に
商 品 企 画 からブランドロゴ、ウェブ、パッケージ、イベントまで
立ち返る」旅を続けています。現 在 主 流の高 速 織 機では

のトータルブランディングはSPREAD が手掛けています。
表現できない糸の交差や結びの工夫により、美しく、軽やか
「 SPREAD＝広げる」
を目指し、環境・生物・物・時間・歴史・

K obo O riza is a factory located in I mabari, S hikoku,
where known for production of cotton textiles.
T he factory is on its journey of“return to basics of
textiles”. I n wish to create textiles which are
beautiful, airily, and capable of showing its distinct
taste of ingredients, K obo O riza is making various
ingenious attempts with crosses and knots of threads,
which can’t be realized with the modern high-speed
looms commonly used today. K obo O riza collected the
old looms, many had almost been dismantled, of early
Showa period from across Japan, repaired and
modified them, created one of the kind“K ijaku
Ichiretsu loom”
. P ieces of work woven with these
particular looms are backed with such craftsmanship
‒ technical skills, sensitivity to beauty, and such
passion for textiles.
SPREAD manages total branding of“ITO”
, from
product planning, logo, website, packaging, to event.
“SPREAD”, as the concept in itself, is the creative
unit which produces something new, containing
various memories of environment, living creatures,
object, time, history, colors, and alphabetical
characters. T hey continue to expand their field of
work beyond graphics, now into textile products.
T heir major work includes CLINIQUE , Nokia,
concept book for S ense of Wonder, and SPREAD
CLOCK . Since 2005,“L ife Stripe”art project is
on-going, which records patterns of life with colors.

L everaging“K ei-sha O ri”(L eaning Weave),
which was developed for the first time in
the world by K obo Oriza, the product
expresses“light, spark, impression”.
Traditionally, the threads are lined up in
horizontal/parallel way, however innovative
L eaning Weave made the skewed line
possible. W ith this technology, the radical
design of geometric patterns with triangles,

い光 AI R 、宙にゆらぐ閃光 CO R O N A 。自然
界で放たれる光のカラーを、揺らめき、未 来 へ
の広がりをテーマに表現しました。
A new stole leveraging“Taju ori”
(Multi-layered weave), which is woven
with more than one cloth on top of one
another in layers. T here are two types
available. O ne is“FOUR”,which is a
uniquely shaped stole with four layers
spreading from a stitched cylindrical cloth,
allowing numerous ways of wearing the
item; another is“SQUARE”,a squareshaped stole which can be folded in
compact way, worn lightly with pale colors
that gives out the feel of coolness. T hree
colors are available for each design;
fluttering flame“FIRE”,bright sunlight
“AIR”,and flash in space“CORONA”.
W ith the theme flutter and spread into
the future, colors of lights released in
Nature are reflected in the design.
