WTO 環境物品交渉立ち上げに関する米国産業団体主催イベントへ参加

日本機械輸出組合は、7 月 8 日にスイス、ジュネーブの WTO にて行われた、米国産業団
体 NFTC（National Foreign Trade Council）主催の環境物品交渉立ち上げイベントを協賛し、
日本から当組合国際通商投資委員会 島田玄一郎委員長（パナソニック株式会社）がイベン
トに参加して、プレゼンテーションを行いました。
島田委員長は、既に合意されている APEC の環境物品品目を基に品目を増やす必要があ
ることを説明した上で、当組合として交渉の早期妥結、環境物品リストの見直しスキーム
への期待を発表しました。
また同イベントでは、欧州、中国の業界団体および米国、ドイツの企業代表が他にプレ
ゼンテーションを行い、交渉開始を歓迎すると共に業界への恩恵を期待するとの発表があ
りました。
当組合としては、今後も海外の業界団体と連携しながら、業界団体として本交渉の支援
を積極的に行う予定です。
Participation in the event led by US industry association on the launch of WTO
plurilateral negotiations on environmental goods

Japan Machinery Center for Trade and Investment
Japan Machinery Center for Trade and Investment (JMC) cosponsored the launch event on
negotiations in environmental goods, hosted by National Foreign Trade Council (NFTC), a
US industry association, in Geneva, Switzerland, on 8th July, and Mr. Genichiro Shimada,
the chairman of the JMC International Trade and Investment Committee, from Panasonic
Corporation, participated from Japan and made a presentation in the event.
Mr. Shimada spoke in his presentation that there is a need to have more environmental
goods to be recognized based on the current APEC list, and he concluded the Japanese
industry expects speedy conclusion of the negotiations and the review scheme of
environmental goods list.
In addition to Japan, industry associations from Europe and China and companies from the
United States and Germany made presentations at the event, in which they welcomed the
launch of the negotiations and expected benefits to be provided.
JMC will actively support the negotiations while coordinating with other foreign industry
associations.
