Children’s International Festa 2012
ブース中継に先だって行なわれた「アナウンサー体験」
小学生を対象とした国際理解・交流体験イベント「こども国際フェスタ2012」
（ジャパンタイムズほか協賛・後援）が８月25と26日、東京・恵比寿ガーデンプレイスで行なわれた。フェスタでは協力
大使館ブースでのワークショップやスピーチコンテストなどの参加型・体験型のプログラムが実施され、子どもたちにとってさまざまな国について学ぶ機会となった。フェスタホームページ http://www.somos-festa.com/
Embassy workshops
Nine embassies held workshops to give kids
hands-on cultural experience. Embassies from
Belgium, Ecuador, Honduras, Mexico, New Zealand,
Spain, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Turkey had booths at
the festa.
Live report from embassy booths
Child reporters interviewed “mini-ambassadors”
and staff at embassy booths to report about the
workshops and how to say “hello” in different
languages. The reporters earlier had lessons and
received tips from TBS announcer Junko Akisawa.
Cultural performance
Performances such as Thai folk dance, hula dance
and Japanese taiko were held during the festa.
Keynote speech and talks on exchange experience
Robert Feldman, a managing director at Morgan
Stanley Japan Securities, gave a keynote speech

about the importance of studying abroad. Feldman
came to Japan as an AFS (American Field Service)
exchange student to study at a Nagoya high school.
In addition, talks with Feldman and two current AFS
exchange students from Iceland and Indonesia were
held.
Children’s International Speech Contest 2012
Fourteen finalists gave speeches in English on the
theme of “My dream.” They were divided into three
groups: first to third graders, fourth to sixth graders
and returnees from abroad.
