1 受動態の文
▶ Nancy is loved by everyone. （ナンシーはみんなに愛されています。）
① 受動態
（受け身）
の文：「
（主語）
は∼される〔されている〕
」と，動作を受けるものが主語になっている文。
注 「
（主語）
は∼する
〔している〕
」という，動作を行うものが主語のふつうの文を能動態の文という。
be 動詞は，主語，時制によって使い分ける。
② 受動態の形：〈 主語＋ be 動詞＋過去分詞 .... 〉
を置く。
③ 行為者： だれがその動作を行うのかを示すときは，最後に
〈 by ＋行為者 〉
注 行為者がばく然とした一般の人のとき，行為者が明らかでないとき，行為者を言う必要がないときは省略する。

2 受動態の否定文・疑問文
▶ The classroom is not used now.
（その教室は今，使われていません。）
▶ Is English spoken in this country?
（この国では英語が話されていますか。）
Yes, it is. / No, it isn’t.
（はい，話されています。／いいえ，話されていません。）
① 否定文：〈 主語＋ be 動詞＋ not ＋過去分詞（＋ by ...）. 〉
② 疑問文：〈 be 動詞＋主語＋過去分詞
（＋ by ...）
? 〉 答え方は，ふつうの be 動詞の文と同じ。
3 SVOO，SVOC の受動態
▶⒜ I was given this bag by Tom.
（私はトムにこのかばんをもらいました。）
⒝ This bag was given（to）me by Tom.
（このかばんはトムが私にくれました。）
▶ She is called Beth by her friends.
（彼女は友だちにベスと呼ばれています。）
① SVO1O2の受動態： O1 と O2 を主語にした２通りの文ができる場合がある。
もう一方の目的語は過去分詞のあとに残る。
