Intro/Review: Our study in the book of Revelation continues this morning in chapter 11.

1. This is a book that chiefly deals with End Times Events.
この黙示録は、主に終末の出来事について取り扱う本です。
a. As you look at the world scene:
世界の様相を見ると：
1) The frequency and intensity of natural disasters are on the rise
自然災害の頻度と激しさは増しています。
2) There have seen unparalleled developments in technology.
圧倒的な技術の発達が見られます。
a) With the aid of satellites, the internet, and international airline travel we can now
reach all corners of the globe in minutes through news reporting and in mere hours
through physical travels.
衛生放送、インターネットそして国際線旅行の助けにおいて、ニュースやわずか数時間の
旅行を通して私たちは数分で世界の隅々に届くことができます。
3) The rise of world leaders and the establishment of international currency systems like
the Euro have dissolved national boundaries…
欧州が国境を崩壊するような、世界のリーダー達の登場と国際通貨制度の構築・・・
b. In light of these things, we find ourselves at what looks like the End of Time.
これらの事を踏まえると、終末がどのようであるかが分かります。
1) All the pieces are in position, Biblically speaking, for Jesus to return.
イエス様が戻られる要件を満たしています。
2) So we are studying this incredible book because it gives us some insight into what will
happen in the End Times.
だから私たちはこの素晴らしい本を学んでいます。ぜなら、この本は終末時に何が起きるかと
いう洞察を私たちに与えるからです。
2. As a reminder, there are four main interpretations of this book.

a. In our first study of this book, back at the end of January, I explained each of these
interpretations.

b. I am mostly teaching through Revelation from a Futurist - Dispensational Premillennialist
view. That means Four things…

1) We view the events in Revelation chapters 4-22 as being future events.

that God is still doing something in and through the Jewish people.

3) We’ll also be taking the positions that the church will be raptured before the
Tribulation…

4) And that Christ will come back to this earth physically and literally for a 1,000 year
reign before the new heaven and new earth are created.
そして、新しい天と新しい地上が造られる前に千年間支配されるためにキリストが肉体的に、

3. So, as we jump back into our study, let’s consider what’s going on at this point.
私たちの学びに戻るにあたり、この時点で何が起こっているのかを考えてみましょう。
a. The circumstances on earth at this point in time in our study are often referred to as the
Great Tribulation.
私達の学びのこの時点での地上の状況は、よく大患難時代と呼ばれます。
b. These intense events will begin after the church is Raptured and taken up to heaven.
これらの強烈な出来事は、教会が携挙され天国へと引き上げられた後に始まります。
c. These End Times Events are marked by cataclysmic, catastrophic, and even cosmic
calamities that are shaking the earth to its very core…

1) As God’s judgment falls upon the face of the earth because the people have rejected
Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

d. You see, through Christ, one’s sins can be forgiven, but apart from Christ, there is no
forgiveness of sins (Romans 3:21-26, 6:23, 1 John 2:12).
キリストを通して人の罪が赦されますが、キリストから離れると罪の赦しはありません。
(ローマ 3:21～26, :21 しかし、今は、律法とは別に、しかも律法と預言者によってあかしされて、

1) Those who have rejected Christ remain in their sin and in these End Times Events they
are being judged by a Perfect, Holy, and Righteous God because of their sins.
罪と終末の出来事の中に残されたキリストを拒否した人々、彼らは彼らの罪のために完全で聖
なる方そして正義の神様によって裁かれます。
4. During this Great Tribulation, God’s Judgments are being ushered in by symbolic heavenly acts.
この大患難時代の間に、神様の裁きが象徴的天の活動として迎え入れらます。
a. The judgments began to fall back in chapter 6 in conjunction with seals that were being
loosed or broken on a heavenly scroll.
天の巻き物が解かれ破られ始めた封印と共に、6 章での裁きが下り始めました。
1) As each seal was loosed, a particular judgment upon the earth resulted.
各封印が解かれた時、結果として特定の裁きが地上に下りました。
b. The loosing of the 7th seal ushered in 7 new symbolic actions, the 7 Trumpet Judgments,
which further ravage the earth and afflict the people.

1) We’ve seen the events that surround the first 6 trumpet blasts in Chapters 8 & 9.

c. Now in Chapter 10 and the first half of chapter 11, what we have is a parenthetical insert.

1) This portion of Revelation presents to us a brief interlude to provide a few additional
heavenly details before the end of the Great Tribulation comes.

Let’s look at today’s passage: Read Revelation 11:1-14 (NKJV)1and Pray

 For Context, I’ll be reading verse 1-14, but we’ll only be focusing verses 1-6 today.

1. As we launch into this passage, we are entering some of the most difficult passages in the bible
to understand.
この箇所を始めるに当たり、私たちは理解するには最も難しい聖書の箇所に入っています。
a. Who are these characters and creatures mentioned?
述べられたこれらの登場人物や生き物は誰ですか？
Well, we’ll try to make sense of this through our study.
私たちは、この学びを通してこの意味を理解しようと思います。

Revelation 11:1
Then I was given a reed like a measuring rod. And the angel
stood, saying, “Rise and measure the temple of God, the altar, and those who worship
there.
黙示録 11:1 それから、私に杖のような測りざおが与えられた。すると、こう言う者があった。「立って、
神の聖所と祭壇と、また、そこで礼拝している人を測れ。
1. John was given a reed to use like a measuring rod.
ヨハネは測りざおのように使う杖が与えられました。（杖は葦のことを指しています。）
a. Today we use Stanley tape measures and laser levels to get exact measurements.
今日、私達は厳密に計測するためにスタンリー社の巻尺とレーザー水準器を使います。
b. But back in John’s time the reeds that grew along the Jordan River where used as measuring
sticks.
しかしヨハネの時代では、ヨルダン川に沿って生えていた葦は物差しとして使われていました。
1) Its length is about 9 or 10 feet.
長さは 9 または 10 フィートです。(約 3ｍ）
c. Some have tried to spiritualize this passage and have said that this is a reference to the
Christian Church. I don’t see that relationship.

1) I’m in line with those who recognize the Jewish people as a distinct group going
through the Tribulation, like J. Vernon McGee who notes, “Every time you see the
beginning of measurements, in either the Old or New Testament, it indicates that God
is beginning to deal with the nation Israel.”

2. John is told to measure the temple of God, the altar, and those who worship there.

a. What John is describing is events that are taking place, not in Heaven, but on earth.
ヨハネが記述していることは、天国で起こっている事ではなく、地上で起こっている出来事です。
b. During the Tribulation period, there will be a temple in the holy city of Jerusalem.
患難時代の間、エルサレムの聖なる町に神殿があります。
1) That’s interesting because currently there is no temple in Jerusalem.
現在のエルサレムには神殿は無いので、それは興味深いことです。
2) The most religious site in all of Israel, perhaps in all of the world, is the Temple Mount
in Jerusalem.
イスラエル全土の一番の宗教の地、おそらく全世界の宗教の地はエルサレムの神殿の丘です。
a) This is where the temple once stood.
これが、神殿が以前あった場所です。
b) King Solomon built the first temple on Jerusalem’s Mount Moriah in 1050 B.C.

 More than four hundred years later, the Babylonians destroyed both Jerusalem
and the temple in 586 B.C.

c) About seventy years later, Zerubbabel led the effort to rebuild the temple after
Israel came out of captivity.

 This is called the Second Temple.

d) Around 20 B.C King Herod, wanting to gain favor among the Jewish people, began
a massive project to enlarge and expand Zerubbabel’s temple.
約紀元前 20 年、ヘロデ王はゼルバベルの神殿を拡大するための巨大プロジェクトを始め
るためにユダヤ人の間で支持されたがっていました。
 This is often called the Third Temple, but in actuality, it’s only an expansion of
the second.
これがよく第三神殿と呼ばれますが、本当は第二神殿の拡大と言うだけです。
 Herod’s Temple, as it is referred to, was the temple standing during Jesus’
earthly ministry.
ヘロデ王の神殿、それはイエス様の地上での奉仕の間に建っていた神殿と言及されま

 Speaking of this temple, Jesus said in Matthew 24:2, “Assuredly, I say to you,
not one stone shall be left here upon another, that shall not be thrown
down.”
イエス様はこの神殿について言われました、マタイ 24:2 そこで、イエスは彼らに答
えて言われた。「このすべての物に目をみはっているのでしょう。まことに、あなた

 Forty years after Jesus’ resurrection, His prophecy came to pass.
イエス様の復活の 40 年後、イエス様の予言は起こりました。
 In 70 AD Roman ransacked the city of Jerusalem and destroyed the temple.
紀元後 70 年にローマ人は、エルサレムの町をくまなく荒らし神殿を破壊しました。
 The soldiers literally pulled down every stone from the walls fulfilling Jesus’
prophecy to the letter.
イエス様の予言通り成就するように、兵士はまさに壁からそれぞれの石を下ろしまし
た。
e) If you were to go to Jerusalem today, the dominant feature located on top of the
Temple Mount in not a Jewish Temple, but a Muslim mosque called The Dome of
the Rock.
今日もしあなたがエルサレムに行くとしたら、一番目立つ物は神殿の丘の頂上にあります。
それはユダヤ人の神殿の中ではなく、岩のドームと呼ばれるイスラム寺院にあります。
 The Dome of the Rock marks the site where Muslims believe Muhammad
supposedly ascended into heaven.

c. But in these End Time Events supernaturally witnessed and recorded by John, a temple will
exist.
しかし、ヨハネによって超自然的に目撃され記録されたこれらの終末の出来事の中に神殿は存在し

1) How many of you have heard of the Temple Institute?
Temple Institute について聞いたことのある方はいますか？
a) From their website it says, “The Temple Institute… is a non-profit educational and
religious organization… dedicated to every aspect of the Biblical commandment to
build the Holy Temple of G-d on Mount Moriah in Jerusalem… Our long-term goal
is to do all in our limited power to bring about the building of the Holy Temple in
our time. The major focus of the Institute is its efforts towards the beginning of
the actual rebuilding of the Holy Temple.”
ウエブサイトではこう言っています、「Temple Institute は非利益の教育的と宗教団体です。
エルサレムのモリヤ山の神の聖なる神殿を建てるために聖書的戒律のあらゆる面に捧げま
す。私達の長期目標は、私達の時代に聖なる神殿を建てるために私達の限りある力を出来
るだけもたらすことです。団体の大きな焦点は、聖なる神殿の実際の再建の始まりに向け
ての努力です。」
b) Amazing, there are efforts underway to have a Jewish Temple rebuilt.
驚くべきことです、ユダヤ人の神殿再建のための努力が行われています。
 And there’s room on the Temple Mount to build the new temple…
そして新しい神殿を建てるために、神殿の丘にスペースがあります。
 Right next to the Doom of the Rock, which happens, presumably is a part of
the Antichrist’s false peace agreement at the beginning of the Tribulation
period.
岩のドームのすぐ隣です。恐らく患難時代の始まりに反キリストの偽の平和合意の一
環として起こることです。

Revelation 11:2
But leave out the court which is outside the temple, and do
not measure it, for it has been given to the Gentiles. And they will tread the holy city
underfoot for forty-two months.
黙示録 11:2 聖所の外の庭は、異邦人に与えられているゆえ、そのままに差し置きなさい。測ってはいけない。
彼らは聖なる都を四十二か月の間踏みにじる。
1. Interestingly, Pastor Skip Heitzig notes that the Dome of the Rock sits on what is called, in
ancient times, the Court of the Gentiles.

a. Perhaps this is why John is told here in verse 2 that the outer courts will be given to the
Gentiles.

b. This could mean that the temple and the Dome of the Rock stand side by side.

c. I imagine, at the very least, there will be a wall between the two.

2. Jesus, speaking of these End Times Events said in Luke 21:24
And they will fall by the
edge of the sword, and be led away captive into all nations. And Jerusalem will be trampled by
Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.
イエス様は終末の出来事について言われました、ルカ 21:24「人々は、剣の刃に倒れ、捕虜となってあら
ゆる国に連れて行かれ、異邦人の時の終わるまで、エルサレムは異邦人に踏み荒らされます。」
a. From what we find in Daniel 9 concerning his 70 weeks prophesy, combined with Jesus’
words and our passage here in Revelation…
ダニエル書 9 章の彼の 70 週の予言に関して分かることから、イエス様の御言葉とこの黙示録の箇所
を結合すると・・・
1) We believe that in the first half of the Tribulation period, the Jews will be living and
worshipping at the Temple in Jerusalem.
患難時代の前半は、ユダヤ人は生きていてエルサレムの神殿で礼拝をしていると思われます。
2) But then, in the second half of the Tribulation period, the Jewish holy city of Jerusalem
will be trampled by the Gentiles while the Jews are persecuted and the temple
desecrated.
しかしその一方で、患難時代の後半はユダヤ人が迫害され神殿が汚される間にエルサレムのユ
ダヤ人の聖なる町は異邦人によって踏みつけられます。
3. This Gentile occupation will occur for a forty-two month period of time.
この異邦人の占拠は、42 ヶ月間起きます。
a. This is the same as 1,260 days or 3 1/2 years; in other words, half of the Tribulation period.
これは 1260 日または 3 年半に匹敵します。言い換えれば、患難時代の半分の期間です。
b. But, all of this will come to an end when Jesus makes his victorious Second Coming.
しかし、この全てはイエス様が勝利の再臨を成就される時に起こります。

Revelation 11:3
(during that 42-month period of time, God says)
And I will give power
to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy one thousand two hundred and sixty days,
clothed in sackcloth.”
黙示録 11:3 それから、わたしがわたしのふたりの証人に許すと、彼らは荒布を着て千二百六十日の間預言
する。」
1. Two powerful preachers, mighty witnesses who will have great power.
二人の力ある説教者、大いなる力を持つ全能なる証人です。
a. Their ministry lasts for half the Tribulation period which coincides with the duration
mentioned in verse 2.
彼らの任務は、2 節で言及された期間と一致する患難時代の半分続きます。
b. They are clothed in sackcloth.
彼らは、荒布を着ています。
1) Sackcloth has biblical significance, it represents repentance.
荒布には聖書的重要性があります。それは悔い改めを表します。
2) After the prophet Jonah preached to the people of Nineveh, it says in Jonah 3:5
So
the people of Nineveh believed God, proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the
greatest to the least of them.
預言者ヨナがニネベの人々に説教した後、言っています。ヨナ 3:5「そこで、ニネベの人々は
神を信じ、断食を呼びかけ、身分の高い者から低い者まで荒布を着た。」
2. Who are these two witnesses?

Good question. It does not say, but there are two widely

a. But before get to that, let’s see what details John provides for us.

Revelation 11:4
These are the two olive trees and the two lampstands
standing before the God of the earth.
黙示録 11:4 彼らは全地の主の御前にある二本のオリーブの木、また二つの燭台である。
1. This is a direct reference back to Zechariah 4.
これは、ゼカリヤ書 4 章の直接的な言及です。
a. In Zechariah’s vision, he saw a lampstand and two oil trees and these trees provided a
continual source of oil that kept the lampstand burning.
ゼカリヤの幻では、彼は燭台と二つの油の木を見て、それらの木は燭台を灯し続けた継続的な油の
源を与えました。

b. That particular vision ends with these words in Zech 4:14
So he said, “These are the
two anointed ones, who stand beside the Lord of the whole earth.”

1) The first application of that verse and vision is applied to two men in Zechariah’s day,
Joshua and Zerubbabel who, by God’s anointing and strength, led the effort in
rebuilding the temple.
その節の最初の適用と幻は、ゼカリヤの時代の二人の者に適用します。神の選定と強さにより
神殿の再建に努力するよう導かれたヨシュアとゼルバベルです。
2) But Zechariah’s vision also applies to these two End Times witnesses that John sees.

2. And the element that ties these two groups together is the oil that comes from the olive trees.
そしてこれらの二つのグループを一緒につなぐ要素は、オリーブの木から出る油です。
a. In the Scriptures, oil is a symbol of the power of the Holy Spirit.
聖書では、油は聖霊の力の象徴です。
b. The key verse from Zechariah’s vision is Zech 4:6 in which the Lord says, “This is the word
of the LORD to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ Says the LORD of
hosts.”
ゼカリヤの幻からの鍵となる節はゼカリヤ 4:6、「主が言われている御言葉、すると彼は、私に答え
てこう言った。「これは、ゼルバベルへの主のことばだ。『権力によらず、能力によらず、わたし

c. These two witnesses will have great power, not in and of themselves, but directly from God.

Revelation 11:5-6
And if anyone wants to harm them, fire proceeds from
their mouth and devours their enemies. And if anyone wants to harm them, he must be
killed in this manner. 6 These have power to shut heaven, so that no rain falls in the
days of their prophecy; and they have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to
strike the earth with all plagues, as often as they desire.
黙示録 11:5~6 :5 彼らに害を加えようとする者があれば、火が彼らの口から出て、敵を滅ぼし尽くす。
彼らに害を加えようとする者があれば、必ずこのように殺される。:6 この人たちは、預言をしている
期間は雨が降らないように天を閉じる力を持っており、また、水を血に変え、そのうえ、思うままに、
何度でも、あらゆる災害をもって地を打つ力を持っている。
1. You don’t want to mess with these guys for we’re told that fire proceeds from their mouth
and devours their enemies.

火が彼らの口から出て敵を滅ぼし尽くすと言われているので、この二人に盾突きたくないですね。
a. When someone is insulted, we’ll say, “He got burned.”
誰かが屈辱を受けたら、私達は「彼はひどい目にあった。」と言います。
b. But I don’t think that’s what John means here.
しかし、ここでヨハネはそんなことを意味しているのでは無いと思います。
2. These two men will have supernatural abilities to defend themselves during their 3 1/2 year long
ministry.
これら二人の者は、3 年半の長い職務の間彼ら自身を守るための超自然的な能力を持ちます。
3. So, who are these guys???
そして、この人達は誰でしょう？？？
a. The first opinion is that these witnesses are none other than Moses and Elijah from the Old
Testament.
まずは、これらの証人は旧約聖書からのモーセとエリヤに他なりません。
1) This based on what is said of these witnesses in our passage.
これに基づいていることは、私たちの学ぶ箇所でこれらの証人に言えることです。
2) It says in verse 6, These have power to shut heaven, so that no rain falls in
the days of their prophecy. (See 1 Kings 17:1)
6 節ではこう言っています、「この人たちは、預言をしている期間は雨が降らないように天
を閉じる力を持っており、」
a) In James 5:17 we are told,
Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he
prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three
years and six months.
ヤコブ 5:17 ではこう教えられています、「エリヤは、私たちと同じような人でしたが、
雨が降らないように祈ると、三年六か月の間、地に雨が降りませんでした。」
3) And it also says in Rev 11:6 that they have power over waters to turn them to
blood, and to strike the earth with all plagues. (See Exodus 7-12)

a) In the Old Testament book of Exodus, Moses turned water to blood and brought
nine other plagues into the land of Egypt.

4) For these reasons, many believe that the witnesses will be Moses and Elijah.

a) Skip Heitzig notes, What two men would have more of an impact on the Jewish
nation than Moses, who represents the Law, and Elijah, recognized as the greatest
prophet? These two men are the embodiment of the Law and the Prophets.
Who better to herald the coming of the King?

b. The second suggestion concerning these witnesses is that they will be the only two humans
outside of the Rapture event who did not experience a physical death.

1) That would be Enoch and Elijah.

a) In Genesis 5:24 we read, And Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God

 He was raptured up into heaven.

b) And in 2 Kings 2:11 we read,
Then it happened, as they continued on and
talked, that suddenly a chariot of fire appeared with horses of fire, and separated
the two of them; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.

 Elijah, like Enoch bypassed death and went straight to heaven.

2) Many, including myself believe the two witnesses will be Enoch and Elijah because the
bible teaches that there is none righteous, no not one, that all have sinned fall short of
the glory of God, and that the wages of sin is death. (Rom 3:10, 23, 6:23)

a) By God’s grace, these two men were taken up into heaven, but will return as
witnesses in the last days.

b) They will experience a physical death, but as we’ll see, Lord willing next week,
will be resurrected and taken up into heaven.

1. Throughout time, God has been faithful to provide a witness to the people on earth.

a. From beginning to end, God has raised up individuals whose ministry is to help people see
God through Jesus Christ.

1) And these End Time Events are no exception.

2. Do you realize that God has given you the opportunity to be a witness today for Christ?

a. We are still here on earth and as long as we are here, we have an opportunity to be a light
for Jesus.

It’s someone who has seen God at work and tells others about it.

3. But the key to being an effective witness is being full of the Holy Spirit.

a. You can’t be an effective witness without His power and enabling.
聖霊の力がなければ効果的な証人にはなれません。
b. That comes through scripture reading, prayer, and faith.

4. My weekly Kingdom Challenge is that you would honor the Lord as a faithful stewards by
setting aside time this week to develop your spiritual gift(s) for God’s Glory.

a. We were all born with natural abilities.

God’s glory?

3) You can be a witness by using your abilities for His glory.

4) Are you intentionally using your abilities to bless and serve others?

b. And if you are a born-again believer, God has given you spiritual gifts.
at least one, if not more, spiritual gifts.
Every believer has
もしあなたが生まれ変わった信者であれば、神様はあなたに霊的賜物を与えておられます。信者は

1) They include the gifts of prophesy, ministry, teaching, exhortation, giving, leading,
showing mercy, words of wisdom and knowledge, faith, healings, miracles, discerning
of spirits, different kinds of tongues, the interpretation of tongues, apostles, helps,
administration, evangelists, and pastors.

2) God gave you these gifts that you would use them for His glory here on earth.
この地上で神様の栄光のために用いるように神様はあなたに賜物を与えておられます。
c. I have the gift of pastor teacher; this comes by the power of the Holy Spirit.
私には牧師、教師としての賜物があります。これは、聖霊の力を通して来ます。
1) I can’t force the Holy Spirit to do anything, but there are things I can do that help me to
improve as a pastor/teacher.
私は、何でもするために聖霊を強制することは出来ません。しかし牧師/教師として向上し易く
するために私に出来る幾つかのことがあります。
1) I rely on the Holy Spirit and I also spend time trying to further develop my gifts from
the Lord.
聖霊に頼り、その上主からの賜物を更に向上できるように時間を割くことです。
b. I’d like to encourage you to do the same!

1) Whatever your gifts are from the Lord, be a witness for Christ by using your gifts for
His glory!
主からのあなたの賜物が何であれ、主の御栄光のためにあなたの賜物を用いることでキリスト
