The 2014 AJE Summer Camp is coming, and with a good reason to register early!

We are exited to announce that enrolment for the 2014 AJE Summer Camp has started. We have already
begun registrations. We’re looking forward to seeing many of last year’s participants return, and we are
expecting to see many new faces join us for the first time! While we are expecting a lot of students in 2014,
we encourage you to take advantage of our discounted early bird registration fees valid until January 31 st,
2014.

The 2014 AJE Summer Camp promises be an even better experience than last year. We are already
planning exciting changes, improvements, and additions to the kinds of experiences your children will
participate in. They will engage with more interesting people, participate in more amazing activities, and
experience another life-changing event.

Camp Highlights (Subject to Change) キャンプのハイライト （変更される可能性もあります。）:
• ENGLISH CLASSES: Classes accommodate your child’s appropriate English level (beginner,
intermediate, or advanced). Class sizes are small (max. 12) and each class has a certified instructor
and a native English-speaking assistant.
英語クラス：クラスは初心者、中級者、上級者のレベルで分かれます。1 クラスの定員は 12 名で
有資格の講師と、ネイティブのアシスタントが付きます。
• The CAMP THEME: English Unites the World. We want the students to imagine they are on an
International Adventure through the UK, Canada, the USA, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa,
Singapore, India, Jamaica, and more.
キャンプのテーマ：英語が世界を結ぶがテーマです。生徒にはイギリス、カナダ、アメリカ、オ
ーストラリア、ニュージーランド、南アフリカ、シンガポール、インド、ジャマイカ、などなど
世界各国を巡るインターナショナルなアドベンチャーに加わっているというつもりになってもら
います。
• FOOD and CULTURE: Students will experience the food of these regions through our professional
catering service, and the culture of these countries through a series of “virtual” country tours to
Embassies located in Tokyo.
フードとカルチャー：プロのケータリング業者から上記の国々のフードを紹介してもらい、また、
都内にある各国の大使館を訪れてバーチャル カントリー ツアーを行い、それぞれのカルチャー体
験をします。
• YOUTH AMBASSADORS: Native English–speaking Youth Ambassadors are an important part of the
program. These young and energetic individuals will join each class as a mentor/role-model and an
assistant to the Instructors.
ユース アンバサダー：ネイティブのイングリッシュスピーカーであるユース アンバサダーはプロ
グラムの重要な役割を担います。エネルギッシュな若者が良き相談相手、お手本として各クラス
をお手伝いします。
• UNIQUE ACTIVITIES: The Camp has activities that cannot be found in other camps: modeling and
engineering (aviation, rocketry, and mechanical). The students will build planes, boats, cars, kites,
rockets, and bridges.

ユニークなアクティビティー：このキャンプでは航空機、ロケット、メカのプラモデル制作とエ
ンジニアリングなど、余所とは一味違ったアクティビティーを行ないます。生徒は飛行機、船、
車、凧、ロケット、橋などを作成します。
• ARTS and CRAFTS: We have a wide variety of arts, crafts, and digital arts: painting, pottery, computer
design, movie-making.
アートとクラフト：様々なアート、クラフト、デジタルアートを制作します。絵画、陶器、CG デ
ザイン、映画作りなどです。
• DANCE and PERFORMANCES: The Camp also has performance arts and dance: Brazilian Capoeira,
Samba, Hip Hop.
ダンスとパフォーマンス：ブラジルのカポエイラ、サンバ、ヒップホップなどを習います。
• PROFESSIONAL SOCCER SKILLS: And of course we have our former professional French Soccer star,
Nicolas Dhuez of FC Chiyoda, now certified soccer coach in Japan, joining us to direct our weekly
Soccer Skills Clinic.
プロのサッカースキル：毎週行なわれるサッカースキル クリニックに、元フランス サッカーのス
タープレイヤー、現 FC 千代田の公認コーチであるニコラ・デュエズ氏を迎えます。
• SPORTS: There is a sports theme throughout with weekly sports days that include: baseball, basketball,
and volleyball.
スポーツ：毎週のスポーツデーにはそれぞれテーマをもうけます。野球、バスケットボール、バ
レーボールなどです。
• SWIMMING POOL: Of course, students will be able to beat the heat on most afternoons by relaxing
in the cool clean water of the AJIS swimming center.
スイミングプール：A-JIS のスイミングプールの冷えたクリーンな水につかってリラックスしなが
ら午後の暑気をしのぐことができます。
• REMOTE RACER DAY: We will convert our soccer field into a large F1-style racing circuit for an
afternoon of remote control car races with a round-robin competition and prizes on the podium. Of
course, they will celebrate with Mitsuya Cider, and not Champagne!
リモート レーサー デー：リモコンカーレースを開催する午後にはグランドのサッカーフィールド
を F1 スタイルのレーシングサーキットに作り替え、総当たり戦を行ないます。表彰台での授与式
もあります。祝杯はもちろん、シャンペンではなく、三ツ矢サイダーで！

• FIELD TRIPS AND BBQs: We also have a series of Barbecues, field trips, and event days open to both
the students and their families: A full day trip to the Arakawa river where we will BBQ, launch their
rockets, fly their kites, and play sports, a day trip to Mt. Takao for climbing, leadership skills building,
orientation, and more, and a tour of the Yokosuka Naval Base.
遠足とバーベキュー：バーベキューや遠足、イベントの日もあります。生徒ばかりでなくご家族
の方も参加できます。終日、荒川に行ってバーベキューをし、ロケットを打ち上げて、凧を揚げ、
スポーツを楽しみます。高尾山の登山ではリーダーシップを養い、オリエンテーションなどを行
います。横須賀海軍施設のツアーもあります。
• CAMP OLYMPICS: On the last day, all of the students will participate with their class “nationalities”
in an Olympic-style event.
キャンプ オリンピック：最終日に全生徒が最初に決められた自分のクラスの「国籍」を代表して
オリンピックスタイルのイベントに参加します。
• GALA and GRADUATION: Afterwards, we will have a BBQ for all students and their families. There
will be a gallery display of all of their models, arts, and crafts. And finally, there will be a graduation
ceremony where students will receive certificates and other memorabilia.
お祭りと修了式：最後には、全生徒とご家族の方と共にバーベキューでお祝いをします。生徒が
制作したプラモデル、アート作品、クラフト作品を展示します。最後に修了式を行い、賞状と記
念品が授与されます。

Welcome to Summer Camp 2014. This letter provides important details for our Camp that is being held on campus at
Aoba-Japan International School in Hikarigaoka, Tokyo, from Wednesday July 16 to August 23, 2013.

The campers will begin each day at the AJE Hikarigaoka campus. There will be at least two adult supervisors for every
10 students. All study and activity materials will be provided, but the students must dress and prepare appropriately for
the days and events of the Camp. Please find the Summer Camp Equipment Checklist attached.
