And smoking is disallowed on the streets of the whole region of Chiyoda ward. ◆Do not use your mobile phone in the classroom, the library, the computer room etc. ◆Not permitted to go to school by car, motorcycle, and bicycle. The road around the university is no parking. Illegally parked vehicles disturb passers and residents. Do not park illegally. ◆Garbage is divided into some kinds for collection. This is effective given the environmental protection. There are five kinds of garbage boxes of the burnable garbage (ex. paper, etc.), used paper, non-combustible garbage (ex. plastic, etc.), noncombustible garbage (ex. can), and the pet bottles in the campus. Caution Regarding Drug Abuse Abuse of illegal drugs such as marijuana among young people including college students is causing a big social problem. Sophia has been giving warnings about this matter repeatedly. The University reminds all students again never to possess, use or trade any kind of illegal drugs. Such acts are serious crimes in Japan. The University also imposes a serious punishment in such cases. If you notice suspicious persons or behavior on the campus, please notify the Center for Student Affairs immediately. −8− 防 災 ◆火災予防 1．所定の喫煙場所以外では喫煙しないこと。 （歩行喫煙や吸殻のゴミ箱など への投げ捨ては厳禁） 2．許可なく危険物の貯蔵や火気の取り扱いをしないこと。 3．実験室等の化学薬品の管理には十分注意すること。 4．故障している電気機器、ガス機器は使用しないこと。 5．タコ足配線は行わないこと。 6．退室するときは、必ず電気器具等のプラグをコンセントから抜くこと。 ◆火災時の避難の心得 1．避難するときは窓やドアを閉め空気を遮断する。 2．煙の中を避難するときは、できるだけ姿勢を低くし、水で濡らしたハンカ チ等で口や鼻を覆い、煙を吸い込まないようにする。 3．エレベーターは、絶対に使用しない。 4．一度避難したら絶対に戻らない。 ※火災を発見した場合は、最寄りの火災報知器を押すか、正門守衛所（033238-3000）または防災センター（03-3238-3119）へ連絡してください（24 時間対応・内線は下 4 ケタのみ）。 ◆地震が発生したときの心得 地震が発生したとき被害を最小限に抑えるには、一人ひとりが冷静に適切 な行動をすることが重要です。 1．机やテーブルの下に身を隠し、身の安全を確保する。 2．戸や窓を開放し避難口を確保する。 3．すばやく火の始末をする（揺れが大きいときは揺れが収まってから！）。 4．あわてて屋外へ飛び出さない。 5．デマにまどわされず正しい情報を入手する。 地震などの災害発生時は、一般電話や携帯電話の通話は規制され、か かりにくくなります。このようなときの比較的有効な連絡手段には以 下のものがありますので、災害時の安否確認などの方法として、予め 家族や親族間等で決めておくと役に立ちます。 ①公衆電話の利用 ②携帯電話のメールの利用 ③携帯電話の「災害用伝言板」の利用 ④災害用伝言ダイヤルの活用（171 番） −9− Disaster Prevention ◆ Fire prevention on Campus 1．Do not smoke except in designated smoking areas. And smoking while walking is prohibited. Do not throw away cigarette butts to the garbage boxes. 2．Get a permit for the use of a fire and storage of a dangerous substance. 3．Take great care to manage chemicals of the laboratory. 4．Do not use broken electrical appliances and gas appliances. 5．Do not put many loads on one electrical outlet. 6．Pull out the plug of electrical appliances from an outlet, when you leave the room. ◆ In case of a fire 1．Close doors and windows behind you as you leave. 2．When you must evacuate through smoke, cover your mouth and nose with a wet cloth and stay low. 3．Never use an elevator. 4．Do not return to an evacuated area. ＊If you notice a fire, push the nearest fire alarm button or inform the Main Gate Security Office (03-3238-3000) or the Disaster Prevention Center (03-3238- 3119). ◆ When an earthquake occurs 1．First ensure your own safety. It is advisable to take cover under a table or a desk. And watch out for broken pieces of glass. 2．Open doors and windows to secure an escape route. 3．Turn off the gas and all the other heating appliances immediately. If a fire should break out, put out the fire at once with a nearby fire extinguisher. (If the shaking is strong, wait until the shaking subsides.) 4．Do not rush out of the building in a panic. 5．Try to get the correct information, without being confused by the false rumor. In case of disasters, it is often difficult to make telephone calls from a general telephone, or a mobile phone. The rental period is usually 2 years. To shorten that period, a tenant must have a consent from the landlord in advance. At the time of making a contract, he/she will be required to pay a deposit (one or two months’rent) and key money (one or two months’rent, non-refundable) in addition to the monthly rent. Students on a short stay basis or non-Japanese speakers will find it difficult to get rental housing. Comprehensive Renter’s Insurance for Foreign Students Studying in Japan If a student cannot find a guarantor, Sophia University has a system where the Deputy Director of Center for Student Affaires serves as a guarantor. If a student wishes to use this system, it is necessary to join the Comprehensive Renter’s Insurance for Foreign Students Studying in Japan, after an individual interview with the Deputy Director. Inquiries: Center for Student Affairs Student Commuter Pass A student commuter pass may be purchased at the station office covering the shortest transportation route between your address and the university. It is not available for other purposes like commuting for a part-time job. N.B. Research students (Kenkyusei), Auditors (Choukousei) and Non-matriculated students (Kamokutorishusei) cannot obtain this commuter pass. To purchase the pass, fill in a request form at the station and submit it together with the Student ID card. When using a bus line, there is the case students should apply for the “Student Commuter Certificate”at Center for Student Affairs. − 14 − 学 割 学割証は、JR線を片道100㎞を越えて利用するときに使用でき、普通乗車券が 2 割引になります。発行枚数は 1 人当たり年間10枚を限度とし、有効期間は発 行日から 3 ヶ月です。学割証は、証明書自動発行機で交付しています。 （研究生、 聴講生は交付されません。 ） ＊学割証は学割証記載の本人以外は使用できません。学割証を他人に譲った り、他人から貰ったりすることは犯罪行為となります。有効期限が切れた 学割証を使用したり、他人から貰った学割証を使用した場合は不正使用と して追徴金が課せられるほか、本学全学生に対して学割証の発行が停止さ れる場合もありますので絶対にしないでください。 振込口座届 奨学金等の振込先として、本学正規生は全員本人名義の銀行口座を「振込口 座届」で学生センターに提出することになっています。口座を持っていない学 生は、口座を開設してください。振込口座届は一度提出すると、卒業するまで有 効です。 国内の各金融機関（ゆうちょ銀行・都市銀行・地方銀行・信託銀行・信用金庫・ 信用組合・農協・漁協およびシティバンク銀行）が対象です。 なお、口座を開設する際には、身分証明書（外国人登録証明書／在留カード・ パスポート・学生証等）が必要です。 ◆振込口座届の提出日 日 時 4月12日（木）・13日（金）・16日（月） 12：30∼15：30 場 所 2 号館 3 階ラウンジ ＊秋入学者については、別途掲示にて連絡します。 ＊外国人学生については、上記提出日以外でも受付けます。 − 15 − Student Travel Fare Discount Certificate This certificate can be used when students travel for more than 100㎞ one way by taking the JR lines. Students can have a 20% discount off the regular passenger fare. Up to 10 copies per year will be issued to a student by the automatic issuing machine. Each certificate is effective for 3 months. N.B. Research students (Kenkyusei) and auditors (Choukousei) cannot obtain the certificate. ＊The certificate must be used in person and no other person can use it. If any other person uses it, not only he or she will be punished as well as the lender or giver, but also the entire student body of Sophia may be deprived of the discount service. Bank Account Form All degree students must submit the “Bank Account Form” to Center for Student Affairs. The bank account is necessary for receiving every payment such as the scholarships from Sophia University and so on. The registered account will be effective until a student graduates. Students who do not have any bank account are requested to open one. Your account should be at a financial institution in Japan. For instance, you may use a Japan Post Bank (yûcho ginkô), a city bank (toshi ginkô), a local bank (chiho ginkô), a trust bank (shintaku ginkô), a credit association (shin-yo kinko), a credit union (shin-yo kumiai), an agricultural cooperative (nôgyô kyôdô kumiai), or Citibank (Only branches in Japan). Sophia Festival Sophia Festival is a campus festival held yearly from November 1 through 3. Various events will be presented by clubs and classes. Sports Festival A sports event supported by the Athletic Clubs Association. Teams from circles, classes and seminars will participate and enjoy games. Sophia Marathon This is also supported by the Athletic Clubs Association and will take place on one Saturday in December. The procedures are carried out at the local ward/city office. The premium must be paid. However, by declaring you have no income, it will be deducted. Please ask directly about the details to the local ward/city office. Subscribers to the National Health Insurance system have only to bear 30% of medical expenses for any treatment coverd by the insurance at clinics or hospitals (Expenses for medical treatment not covered by the insurance must be paid in full.) Personal Accident Insurance for Students Pursuing Education and Research All degree students and exchange students must be affiliated with this insurance plan. This will cover physical injuries a student suffers during educational and research activities at the university (taking part the regular curriculum, school events, extracurricular activities reported to the university, and while the insured is within the school facilities for other reasons) and during commuting to school and in transit between school facilities. The term of insurance is from the time of admission until graduation or the end of the proposed enrollment. Hôdaigi Hut Hodaigi Hut was first built in 1963 by the Wandervogel club for its members. However, since it became too dilapidated, it was rebuilt in 1982 and is now open for all students.
