図書館利用上の注意　Read Before Using the Library
1.図書館の利用には本人の学生証・教職員身分証明書または図書館利用カードが必要です。　学生証等の貸し借りは厳禁です。
2.図書館資料は大学の共有財産です。万が一紛失・汚損・破損をした場合は弁償していただきます。
3.館外に資料を持ち出す場合は必ず貸出手続きをしてください。貸出資料のまた貸しは厳禁です。
4.返 却期限を厳守してください。他の利用者の迷惑となります。
5.貸出手続きをしていない資料を持ったまま退館ゲートを通るとアラームが鳴ります。　その際は持ち物を確認させていただきます。
6.貴重品は常に携帯し、私物は各自の責任で管理してください。
1.Your student/faculty ID card or library card is required to use the library. Lending/borrowing of student ID cards or
other such cards is strictly prohibited.
2.Materials in the library are shared university assets. Compensation for replacement costs must be paid if you lose,
vandalize/dirty or otherwise damage any of these materials.
3.If you wish to take any of the library's materials off the premises, you must complete the necessary material check-out
procedures first. Lending of borrowed items to others is strictly prohibited.
4.Make sure to return items by their scheduled due date. Failure to do so inconveniences other library users.
5.An alarm will sound if you attempt to take any library materials through the library's exit security gate without first
completing proper check-out procedures. If the gate alarm sounds, we will inspect the items you are currently carrying.
6.Please keep valuables with you at all times. You are responsible for protecting your personal items.

All four libraries are open to Toyo University students, faculty and alumni.

Checking Out Materials
本学学生、教職員、校友（卒業生）、退職教職員、図書館相互利
借りたい資料をカウンターまでお持ちいただくか、自分で資料
用に関する協定で利用を認められた者、その他副館長の許可を
の貸出･延長の手続きができる自動貸出返却装置（通称：ABC）
受けた者
をご利用ください。
※校友として図書館を利用（利用者登録）する場合、住所・本人確認ができるもの
（運転免許証・保険証・郵便物等）の提示が必要です。
※貸出手続きには、学生証・教職員身分証明書・図書館利用カードが必要です。
※新聞･参考図書･マイクロ資料･視聴覚資料（一部貸出可）などは館外貸出対象外です。
※未製本雑誌・視聴覚資料・DVDなど付録の付いた資料はカウンターまでお持ち
ください。

institutions that have a reciprocal library usage agreement with Toyo
University and others granted access by the vice director of Toyo
University Library.

You must go through a special procedure in order to access materials
in the closed shelves (except Kawagoe and Itakura Library). Visit the
service counter for details.
Returning Materials
館外貸出手続きをした資料は、学内のいずれの図書館でも返却
可能です（未製本雑誌・視聴覚資料・DVDなど付録の付いた資
料を除く）。カウンター、または自動貸出返却装置（通称：ABC。
白山図書館ではカウンター返却のみ。）にてご返却ください。
なお、閉館時、またはカウンターまで来られない場合は、館外
に設置されている「返却ポスト」をご利用ください。閉館中に
返却ポストにて返却された資料は、直前の開館日付けで返却処理
をいたします。また、返却期限までにご来館できない場合は郵送・
宅配便による返却も受け付けております。詳しくは、図書館
ホームページをご覧いただくか、カウンターまでお問い合わせ
ください。

図書館では請求記号の順に資料が並んでいます。書架での資料
の並び方は、下の図のように最上段の左端①から始まり右端②
まで、次は下段の左端③に折り返します。一番下の右端⑧から
は右隣の書架の最上段⑨へと続きます。①から⑩への番号順、
以下同じように続きます。
Library materials are organized according to call number. The

Toyo University Library Reference and Information Total Network System の略で、東洋大学図書館情報システムを意味
しています。このシステムは、図書館所蔵の図書雑誌等のデータベース化並びに学外データベースとのネットワーク化に
よる学術情報サービス体制の確立を目的としています。TRiTONは、ギリシャ神話にある海の大神ポセイドンと海の女神
アンフィトリテの子で、東洋大学の「洋」から海に因んだ名称として選びました。また、笑顔のイルカのイメージから、人に
優しい親切なシステムにしたいとの願いが込められています。
TRiTON stands for the Toyo University Library Reference and Information Total Network System, an academic information service featuring databases of
our library collection and periodicals as well as several off-campus databases in an online format. Triton was the son of the Greek god and goddess of the
ocean, Poseidon and Amphitrite, and his name was selected as a nod to the character “YO” in Toyo University, which means “sea”. We also hope that the
smiling dolphin mascot will communicate just how easy and friendly the system is to use.

the OPAC website and search for the database you
would like to use. When you click the link, the login
screen for Surutto TRiTON will be displayed. You
can connect to the database by logging in.

Access logs are constantly monitored by the provider. If the provider determines there is improper usage even
when there was no intentional misconduct, the university will be cut off from accessing the provider and a

Kawagoe Library Floor Guide
朝霞図書館は、社会福祉・保育・スポーツ科学・ユニバーサルデザイン等、学科関連の資料を中心に収集しています。
学生数に対して閲覧席が多く、ゆったりとしたスペースで、学習に集中することが出来ます。また、学生同士のディ
スカッションが可能なアクティブエリアやPCコーナーを設置し、学習環境が充実しています。
The Kawagoe Library collection is primarily comprised of materials related to the Faculty of Science and Engineering and Faculty
of Information Sciences and Arts. The building in a symbolic pentagon shape is filled with natural light by its vaulted ceilings, and
provides a relaxed atmosphere. The Learning Commons space has been established, which enhances the PC and group-learning
environment.
The Asaka Library collection is primarily comprised of materials on social welfare, childcare, sports sciences, universal design and related
topics. Ample seating ensures a relaxed environment where students can concentrate on their studies. There is also the Activity Area, where
students can have discussions, and the PC Area has been established as well. These areas enhance the learning environment.

Workshops
The collection is the Itakura Library is centered around specialized documents for the life sciences and food life science. It features
numerous glass walls that are constructed to let natural light pass through for a bright space. The windows look over the Nikko
mountain range, creating a peaceful study environment. Also, a complete learning environment is provided through a computer
commons and active learning area that can be used by students for discussion.

Yes. You can enter the library without your ID by speaking
to a librarian at the service counter. However, you cannot
check out any material without your ID.

Is there a particular way to do this?
はい。OPAC（Online Public Access Catalogの略。蔵書
検索システムのこと）を是非ご活用ください。OPACで蔵書
検索することで、所属館の資料はもちろん、他館、他大学の所蔵
状況も簡単に調べることができます。また、検索以外に、資料
の貸出延長（P3参照）や貸出中の資料へ予約をつけたり、他館
から資料を取り寄せることもできます（注）。なお、これらの
機能を利用するためにはパスワードが必要です（P8参照）
。
（注）雑誌は、OPACでの予約は出来ません。カウンター手続き
にて他館から取り寄せ可能です。

We hold a variety of workshops so that new students and
other library users can find out how to make the most of the
Toyo University Library system. For example, you can attend
a seminar on how to use the library for a specific course or
get an individualized workshop. We invite instructors from
other institutions to teach sessions on using the library
database. Our knowledgeable library support staff are also
available to help you with specific questions. The Toyo
University Library is proud of its vast collection of useful and
authentic materials, and becoming proficient at accessing
them will have a tremendous impact on the quality of your
studies while you are here. Make the time to attend one of
our workshops and make the most of this valuable resource.

can also use several group study rooms in the library. For

My library materials were lost/soiled/damaged.
What should I do?
紛失の場合、弁償していただくことになります。また汚損・
破損の場合も、資料の状態によっては弁償が生じます。現物
を購入して弁償する場合、状態が良ければ、新品、中古は問い
ません。いずれにしても、
このような事態が発生しましたら、
自分で判断せず、速やかに各館カウンタースタッフにご相談
ください。
If you lose library materials, you will have to purchase a new
copy. You may be required to purchase new items for soiled
and/or damaged materials depending on their condition. If you
purchase an actual item to replace one that has been damaged,
either a new or used one can be accepted as long as it is in good
condition. Either way, you need to report the situation to the
library and discuss it with a staff member as soon as possible.
Do not try to handle the situation on your own.

Although it depends on the branch, your materials may arrive at
your local service counter as early as the next day—though typically
it takes two to three days. (See posted notices for scheduling and
other information during extended university holidays.) Once the
item arrives at your local branch, it will be held there for a week,
so please make sure to visit and check out the book at the service
counter within that period. If you do not collect it during that time, it
will be automatically sent back to its home branch.

Yes. The most efficient way to find what you’re looking for
is to use the OPAC system. OPAC stands for Online Public
Access Catalog, and it can be used to search the library
collection at Toyo University as well as access materials at
other branches and universities. In addition to searching,
you can also use the system to get a due date renewal (see
page 3) or reserve a book that is currently checked out. You
can also request that books at other branches be delivered
for pickup*. Note that you must supply a password to access
the OPAC system (see page 8).
*You cannot reserve periodicals using this function. If you
wish to have a periodical delivered from another branch, you
must request it in person from the front desk.

Chirimen (crepe paper) books, which were made by compressing washi
(Japanese paper), were first published during the Meiji period in 1885, and
played an important role in transmitting information about Japanese culture to
the West. They often contained Japanese folk tales and similar stories,which
were then translated into Western languages by missionaries and personnel
employed by the Japanese government. Western publishing companies
worked with Japanese publishers to produce these works.
Bakemono no Konrei (The Marriage of Hobgoblins) is a colorful emaki (picture
scroll) describing all the aspects of a Japanese wedding ceremony with
hobgoblins as the bride, groom, and guests. They are illustrated in such a
charming manner that this emaki can be appreciated with visual interest. It is a
humorous, fun picture scroll with elements of caricature rather than a serious
ghost picture scroll. This emaki seems to have been made with reference
to Tsukumogami Emaki, Hyakki-Yagyo Emaki, and Konrei Emaki. There is
no evidence to show the author is Seisei Kyosai except for the signature of
his name on the case-box of this emaki If this signature is accurate, it would
indicate that he was the painter Kyosai Kawanabe (1831-1889), who was
actively involved in emaki illustration in the years from the end of the Edo
period to the Meiji period. He was the author of Kyosai Hyakki Gadan, a
version of Hyakki-Yagyo Emaki, and thus he could be the same person who
illustrated Bakemono no Konrei.

This ancient copy dates back to the Kamakura period (1185–1333) and was
formerly in the collection of Mitsuhide Karasumaru.

『狭衣』

日本古来種の妖怪を登場人物に見立て、婚礼の一部始終を描いた彩色絵巻。妖怪の絵はそれぞれ愛矯があり、怪異画というより
戯画的要素が高く見て楽しい絵巻である。付喪神絵巻、百鬼夜行絵巻、婚礼絵巻を参考として仕立てた絵巻と考えられる。画者
については、
箱書に
「惺々暁斎」
とあるのみだが、
これを信じるならば、
江戸から明治にかけての絵師、
河鍋暁斎
（かわなべきょうさい）
ということになる。彼は
『暁斎百鬼画談』
という
「百鬼夜行絵巻」
の一種も描いているので、本絵巻の作成も十分に考えられる。

●哲学堂文庫 Tetsugakudo Bunko
本学創立者井上円了博士が創りあげた、社会教育の場としての哲学堂
公園に設置された哲学堂図書館旧蔵書。
国漢書2,023種10,735冊、佛書4,769種10,458冊。
Tetsugakudo Bunko was started by Enryo Inoue, founder of Toyo University. It
includes the former collection of Tetsugakudo Library built in the Tetsugakudo
Park, a place that Inoue hoped would serve as a hub of community education.

Buddhist scriptures: 10,458 books on 4,769 titles
●百人一首並びに類書 Hyakunin Isshu and related books
図書館所蔵資料の個性化の一環として永年にわたり収集されてきた
『百人一首』関係資料。
●稲葉文庫
（とうようぶんこ）Toyo Bunko
昭和35年本学にて『加納諸平の研究』で学位を取得した山本嘉将氏の
「和歌文学写本」
を主とする近世和歌資料約550点。
One of the things that the Toyo University Library has done to distinguish itself
over the years has been to collect materials related to the famous Hyakunin
Isshu classical Japanese anthology of poems.
This collection of around 550 modern waka poems primarily features the Waka
Bungaku Shahon by Yoshimasa Yamamoto, who studied the Edo-period
classical Japanese scholar Morohira Kano at Toyo University, graduating in
1960.
●古典文庫旧蔵書 Koten Bunko (the Classic Collection)
故 吉田幸一本学名誉教授の日本文学コレクションであった旧蔵書の一部。
A part of this collection of Japanese literature was once held by the late Dr.
Koichi Yoshida, former professor emeritus of Toyo University.
●カール・エンギッシュ文庫 Karl Engisch Bunko
戦前・戦後のドイツ刑法学界および法哲学界の巨匠カール・エンギッ
シュ博士の約4,000冊の蔵書、未発表原稿、ハイデルベルク大学、ミュン
ヘン大学での講義録、書評等を含む文献群。
Karl Engisch was a great master in the study of German criminal law and legal
philosophy during the World War II era, and this collection includes some 4,000
books, unpublished manuscripts, transcripts from lectures given at Heidelberg
University and Munich University, book reviews, and more.
