Binzuru is a dance festival held every year
in Nagano City. Kicking of the Dance Portion of the Binzuru festival is the Hiokurishu
Ceremony. This ceremony brings the
ever-burning flame of Zenkoji from the
temple to other areas of the city and finally
to the main torch that burns near the heart
of the dancing during Nagano City’s Binzuru festival. The ceremony is held on August 6.
びんずる祭りとは毎年長野市で開催され
る、参加者が踊る祭りです。燈送衆より、び
んずる祭りの踊りは始まります。善光寺から
の常燈明を各所にある火釜に届けて、最後
に長野市びんずる祭りの踊っている中心に
なる所で点火する式です。これは8月6日に開催します。

HIOKURISHU 燈送衆
Zenkoji Temple’s Sacred Light 善光寺の法灯
This flame is said to have been burning continuously for the past 1400 years,
since Zenkoji Temple was constructed. Yoshimitsu Honda, the man who had
Zenkoji Temple erected, came upon a statue of Amida Buddha in a river and
brought it home with him to Nagano. He later enshrined it at Zenkoji Temple. At
first Zenkoji Temple was quite poor, and eventually there was no oil for the
lanterns, but a mysterious light shone out from the statue, and a flame began
burning in one of the lanterns. The story goes that it has been burning every since.
善光寺が創立された1400年前から消えることなく灯されていると言われていま
す。善光寺を建立した本田善光は川に通りかかると阿弥陀如来像が出現して、
それを長野に持って行き、阿弥陀如来像を善光寺に安置しました。その頃、善
光寺は貧困が原因で灯の油が尽きましたが、像から放たれた光によって灯をつ
けました。その時から絶やされることなく受け継がれているといわれます。
Passing the Flame around the City 灯を届けること
The flame is passed to runners at Toigo Square and then relayed down the main
streets of the city. All of the runners are female, but as part of the ceremony they
wear traditional clothing to appear male. They are prohibited from talking during the
ceremony, and it is important to not get to close as they will be running at full speed
and pivoting with their flaming torches. The procession leaves Zenkoji Temple at
5:30 pm. The runners begin to relay the flame at 6:15 pm.
ＴＯＩＧＯ広場で火をつけてから、街の主な道を通り、リレーで次の人に届けます。
全員、走る人は女性ですが、伝統的な服を着て、男性の格好になります。無言で、
燃やしている灯を持ちながら全力で走ったり、回転したりするので近づきすぎたら
危険です。行列は午後5時半に善光寺から出発します。火の中継を始めるのは午
後6時15分からです。

POKEMON GO ポケモン・ゴー
Pokémon have long been popular in America, too!
Pokémon have been popular in America since the 1990s. Gameboy games and
other products have been extremely well received.
While there are Pokémon names such as Pikachu that have remained the
same, others such as Bulbasaur have been changed from their original
names. Bulbasaur’s Japanese name for instance is Fushigidane which
literally means “mysterious seed”.
アメリカでもポケモンがだいぶ前から人気です。
ポケモンは１９９０代から流行っています。ゲームボーイなどの製品は評判がかなり高いです。
ピカチュウ などの名前がそのままにしていますが、バルバソールなどの名
前は本来の名前から変更されました。英語バージョンのバルバソールは日
本語で「不思議だね」という名前です。

Ash Ketchum・Satoshiサトシ

One of the main characters' names has been changed from
Satoshi to Ash Ketchum. Ash’s last name Ketchum is a play
on the words “catch them”.
主人公の一人、「サオシ」は「Ash Ketchum」に変更されまし
た。名字の発音はちょっとした言葉遊びで英語で“catch
them”の発音と似ています。その単語の意味は「捕まえる」と
いう意味です。

第46回 長野びんずる祭り
The festival will be held on August 5 and 6. The International Exchange Corner will be leading a group welcoming foreign residents. You will be provided with a t-shirt and
drinks. T-shirts are available for the first 100 participants
who sign up. You are welcome to bring Japanese friends,
family, and/or significant others, but t-shirts are limited to
the first 100 participants who sign up. The deadline to sign
up is this Saturday, July 30. EMAIL: [email protected]
2016年8月6日に開催します。今年も、長野青年会議所の皆
様が、外国籍の方々の参加、そして国際交流を目的に「国
際連」を結成します。参加費はTシャツと飲み物の費用も含
みます。外国籍の方であればどなたでも参加できますの
で、ご家族・お友達をお誘いいただき、是非ご参加ください。Tシャツは先着１００人に限りま

A delicious meal prepared with koji rice mold, the fermented food product miso
and amazake. Sundried tomato chicken marinated in rosemary koji. A fresh roll
and dip sauce incorporating white miso. Fresh vegetables. Dessert of panacotta
made with amazake and fresh blueberries.
Amazake is a non-alcohol drink made from rice, more specifically koji. It is naturally sweet with no added sugars. The high enzyme content resulting from the koji
and nutrients make it a very healthy drink which can be enjoyed hot or cold.
麹、発酵食品の味噌、甘酒で作られた美味しい食事になりました。サンドライド
（天日干 ）トマトローズマリー麹マリネのチキン、白味噌が入っているパンと
ディプソース、新鮮な野菜、甘酒や新鮮なブルーベリーで作られたパンナ・コッ
タのデザート。
甘酒とはアルコール０％であり、米、もう少し具体的にいうと麹で作くります。
砂糖は不使用であて、自然の甘い味があります。麹由来の酵素と栄養の量が多く
て、とても健康的な飲み物です。温くしても、冷たくしても飲まれます。
