The Open Classrooms are a series of talkboards where students in Japan and the UK Learn together: can send messages linked to different subjects on the curriculum. There are mirror Japanese and English pages where all messages are translated so students can communicate without any language barrier. Discover a new culture: As they learn about a set topic together, students will discover a new culture and consider new ways of looking at the world. Tailor your learning: Each talkboard is accompanied by several worksheets relating to the theme. Some feature mini projects to help your students bring the topic to life, others guide students on how to structure and respond to a message. Students can also talk about what they’re learning in their classes at the moment. Make friends: Be safe: Alongside the schedule of subject-based talkboards we feature a year-long general board (The Lunch Room) where students can get to know more about their new friends. The Open Classrooms are password-protected for use by students at registered schools and moderated by Japan Society staff. Teachers and students in Japan and the UK are invited to participate in our brand new programme starting in September 2011.
