The following 5 principles have been instilled as the Guiding Principles of Hiroshima University and we are aiming to become a world-recognized, top-level, comprehensive university. 1. Pursue peace 2. Create new forms of knowledge 3. Nurture well-rounded human beings 4. Collaborate with the local, regional and international community 5. Continue self-development With these objectives and principles in mind, Hiroshima University Libraries have been requested to pursue the following activities addition to the past library work. ・Offer a stable source of scientific information using the Internet such as e-journals and institutional repositories ・Open library to the regional society and promoting social cooperations ・Enhance research and development in the library ・Upgrade functions sending about the academic information etc. We wish that our libraries will be more attractive and useful for its patrons by positively grappling with these problems. O V E RV I E W O F H I R O S H I M A U N I V E R S I T Y L I B R A RY 2 0 0 6 - 2 0 0 7 H I S TO RY O F H I RO S H I M A U N I V E R S I T Y L I B R A RY ( E X T R AC T ) 沿 革（抄） 沿 革 ︵ 抄 ︶ 明治35［1902］年 ８月 広島高等師範学校図書館開設 Founded of the Library of the Hiroshima School of Secondary Education. 明治40［1907］年 ９月 広島県から建築費の寄付をうけ、閲覧室を増築（これにより、図書館を市民にも一般公開。 この制度は昭和35年まで継続） Built reading room with donation from Hiroshima prefecture up to 1960. Facility was opened to the public. 昭和４［1929］年 ４月 広島文理科大学の設置により、広島文理科大学附属図書館と改称 Changed name to the Library of Hiroshima University of Literature and Science in accordance with the foundation of Hiroshima University of Literature and Science. 昭和20［1945］年 ８月 原子爆弾により建物と蔵書の大半を失う（当時蔵書数27万冊、焼 失19万冊） 広島高等師範学校図書館（大正３年） Lost the building and most of its resources due to the atomic bomb. (190 thousand out of 290 thousand books were destroyed by fire.) 昭和24［1949］年 ５月 国立学校設置法の公布により、広島大学附属図書館と改称 Changed name to Hiroshima University Library due to the promulgation of Standards for the Establishment of National Schools Law. 昭和25［1950］年 ５月 評議会の決定により、本館のほか、教育学部、同東雲分校、同三原分校、同福山分校、政経学 部、工学部、水畜産学部及び皆実分校（教養部）の８分館を置く Established a Main Library and eight libraries by the decision of the University Senate (The Branch Library of the Faculty of Education, the Branch Library of the Shinonome Branch School, the Branch Library of the Mihara Branch School, the Branch Library of the Fukuyama Branch School, the Branch Library of the Faculty of Politics and Economics, the Branch Library of the Faculty of Engineering, the Branch library of the Faculty of Fisheries and Animal Husbandry and the Branch Library of the Minami Branch School (the Faculty of Liberal Arts)). 昭和28［1953］年 ８月 医学部設置に伴い、医学部分館を置く Established the Branch Library of the Faculty of Medicine in accordance with the establishment of the Faculty of Medicine. 昭和30［1955］年 ４月 教育学部の本部構内への移転に伴い、同分館を本館に統合 Integrated of the Branch Library of the Faculty of Education to Main Library in accordance with the move of the Faculty of Education to the Main Campus. 昭和32［1957］年 ４月 政経学部の本部構内への移転に伴い、同分館を本館に統合 Integrated of the Branch Library of the Faculty of Politics and Economics to Main Library in accordance with the move of the Faculty of Politics and Economics to the Main Campus. 昭和33［1958］年 ５月 広島大学附属図書館 （旧広島文理科大学附属図書館） （昭和30年頃） 理論物理学研究所分室を設置 Established the Sub-Branch Library of Research Institute for Theoretical Physics. 昭和36［1961］年 ４月 皆実分校（教養部）の本部構内への移転に伴い、同分館を本館に統合 Integrated the Branch Library of the Minami Branch School (the Faculty of Liberal Arts) to Main Library in accordance with the move of the Minami Branch School (the Faculty of Liberal Arts) to the Main Campus. 04 H I R O S H I M A U N I V E R S I T Y L I B R A RY 昭和36［1961］年 ６月 沿 革 ︵ 抄 ︶ 原爆放射能医学研究所分室を設置 Established the Sub-Branch Library of Research Institute for Radiation Biology and Medicine. 昭和37［1962］年 ３月 本館新館舎最終工事完成（１期第１工事は32年３月、１期第２工事は34年４月、２期工事は 35年３月に完了） Completed the final stage of construction of Main Library. (Finished first phase of first stage: May 1957, second phase of first stage: April 1959, second stage: May 1960.) 昭和37［1962］年 ４月 三原分校分館を東雲分校分館に統合 Integrated of the Branch Library of the Mihara Branch School to the Branch Library of the Shinonome Branch School. 昭和41［1966］年 11月 福山キャンパス内の館舎の新築完成、福山分校分館と水畜産学部分館が新館に移転 Completed the library building on Fukuyama Campus. Transfer of the Library of the Fukuyama Branch School and the Branch Library of the Faculty of the Fisheries and Animal Husbandry to the new library building. 昭和42［1967］年 ４月 福山分校分館と水畜産学部分館を統合し、福山分館を設置。医学部分館を廃止し、医学分館 を設置 Established the Fukuyama Branch Library with the integration of the Branch Library of the Fukuyama Branch School and the Branch Library of the Faculty of Fisheries and Animal Husbandry. Established of the Medical Branch Library, due to the closing of the Branch Library of the Faculty of Medicine. 昭和47［1972］年 ４月 事務部制が設置され１部２課制となる Set office department system organized into one department with two divisions. 昭和47［1972］年 ４月 電算機による業務機械化を開始 Started computerising operation of the service. 昭和53［1978］年 ６月 学校教育学部の設置に伴い、東雲分校分館を廃止し、学校教育学部分館を設置 Established the Branch Library of the Faculty of School Education in accordance with the establishment of the Faculty of School Education. Closed the Shinonome Branch Library. 昭和54［1979］年 ８月 学術文献情報検索サービス開始 Started HUNDRED (Hiroshima University New Document Retrieval and Dissemination) System operation. 昭和55［1980］年 10月 図書館業務システムを自主開発 Independently developed the Library operating system. 昭和56［1981］年 ４月 原爆放射能医学研究所分室を廃止 Closed the Sub-Branch Library of Research Institute for Radiation Biology and Medicine. 昭和56［1981］年 ５月 医学分館の新館舎竣工し開館 Completed construction of the Medical Branch Library's new building. Opened the Medical Branch Library. 昭和57［1982］年 ２月 附属図書館本館閲覧室（広島市東千田町） （昭和56年） 工学部分館が新キャンパス（東広島市）へ移転 Relocated the Branch Library of the Faculty of Engineering to the new campus located in Higashi-Hiroshima city. H I R O S H I M A U N I V E R S I T Y L I B R A RY 05 昭和62［1987］年 ４月 学術情報センター（現国立情報学研究所）と接続し目録登録を開始 Started online cataloging in connection with the National Center for Science Information Systems (presently the National Institute of Informatics). 沿 革 ︵ 抄 ︶ 昭和63［1988］年 ４月 生物生産学部の移転に伴い工学部分館を廃止し、西条分館を設置 Changed name from the Branch Library of the Faculty of Engineering to the Saijo Branch Library in accordance with the relocation of the Faculty of Fisheries and Animal Husbandry. 昭和63［1988］年 ４月 整理課及び閲覧課を情報管理課及び情報サービス課と改称する Changed name from Management Division and Circulation Division to Information Processing and Management Division and Information Service Division. 平成元［1989］年 ４月 理論物理学研究所分室を廃止 Closed the Sub-Branch Library of the Research Institute for Theoretical Physics. 平成元［1989］年 10月 教育学部の新キャンパス（東広島市）への移転に伴い福山分館を廃止し、教育学部分室を設置 Established the Sub-Branch Library of the Faculty of Education in accordance with the relocation of the Faculty of Education to the new campus (in Higashi-Hiroshima city). Closed the Fukuyama Branch Library. 平成３［1991］年 ２月 図書館専用パッケージソフトの導入（日立HITAC-M640/30E） Introduced a new software package for library.(HitachiHITAC-M640/30E) 平成４［1992］年 ３月 中央図書館へ本館の一部、教育学部分室、理学部から図書資料の移転 Transfered a portion of the materials from Main Library, all materials from the Sub-Branch Library of the Faculty of Education and books and periodicals from the Faculty of Science to the Central Library. Closed the Sub-Branch Library of the Faculty of Education. 平成４［1992］年 ３月 教育学部分室を廃止 Closed the Sub-Branch Library of the Faculty of Education. 平成４［1992］年 ５月 中央図書館での業務開始 Opened the Central Library. 平成５［1993］年 ７月 西図書館へ本館の一部、総合科学部から図書資料の移転、中央図書館第２期工事着工 Transfered a portion of the materials from Main Library and books and periodicals from the Faculty of Integrated Arts and Sciences to the West Library. Started the second stage of construction of the Central Library. 平成５［1993］年 10月 西図書館での業務開始 Opend the West Library. 平成６［1994］年 ３月 中央図書館へ本館の一部、文学部から図書資料の移転 Transfered a portion of the materials from Main Library and books and periodicals from the Faculty of Letters. 平成７［1995］年 １月 中央図書館へ本館、法学部、経済学部から図書資料の移転 Transfered books and periodicals from the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Economics to the Central Library. Started opening on Sundays at the Central Library. 平成10［1998］年 ４月 事務機構改革。東図書館情報管理係、西図書館情報管理係、情報システム係を廃止し、受入 係、相互利用係、電子情報係を設置 Abolished the Information Management Section of the East Library, the Information Management Section of the West Library and the Information System Section. Established the Interlibrary Cooperation Section and the Digital Information System Section. 平成11［1999］年 ３月 附属図書館専用電子計算機更新（日立LOOKS21/U） Renovated Library's computer. (Hitachi LOOK21/U) 平成12［2000］年 ７月 東千田総合校舎竣工に伴う東千田分室の移転開館 Completed construction of the Higashi-Senda School main building. Transfered and reopened the Higashi-Senda Sub-Branch Library. 平成13［2001］年 ３月 芸予地震による附属図書館罹災 Striked by Geiyo Earthquake. 平成13［2001］年 ４月 事務機構改革。和書目録情報係、洋書目録情報係を廃止し、図書目録情報係、電子資料係を 設置。電子化推進室の設置 Abolished the Japanese Book Cataloging Section and the Foreign Books Cataloging Section. Established the Books Cataloging Section and the Digital Materials Section. I T Y L I B R A RY 13 2. 地域貢献活動・国際交流活動 Introduction of outreach activities for local and international groups. 広島大学理念のひとつである「地域社会・国際社会との共存」を実現するため、広島大学図書館は、社会との連携・ 国際交流を中期目標に掲げ、開かれた図書館を目指している。 Led by the one of Guiding Principles of Hiroshima University, "Collaboration with the local, regional and international com活 動 状 況 munity", Hiroshima University Library has set the medium-term goal of "Building good relationships with community and expanding international exchange", by actively working to be a library open to both local and international groups. ●地域貢献活動 一般開放 Local exchange Opening to the public 広島大学図書館の一般開放の歴史は古く、図書館開設まもない明治40年には、一般市民への公開を始め、この制度は 戦前戦後をはさんで昭和35年まで継続された。その後、広島大学の発展と移転に伴い図書館も相次いで分館等の新設・ 統合・移転を繰り返し、長期間にわたって市民の利用は制限を余儀なくされたが、その間も昭和62年には広島市立図書 館、さらに平成５年には広島県立図書館と相互協力サービスを開始し、間接的にではあるが、地域の方々の資料利用の ご要望に応えてきた。平成７年大学統合移転完了の際には、完了記念行事の一環として図書館公開事業を実施、図書館 ツアーや新設された中央図書館での貴重資料展示などを行い、その後一般公開が再開された。卒業生・放送大学生・近 隣の研究機関所属者など徐々に資料貸出対象を拡大、平成９年に一般市民の利用手続きを簡素化し、また東広島市立中 央図書館とサービス協定を結び、東広島市立図書館利用者への貸出も始めた。平成15年からは、身分・資格に関係なく 一般利用者への図書貸出ができるようになった。平成17年には、一般利用者の方により広範囲な図書館サービスを提供 する手段として「広島大学図書館フレンドリー利用者」制度の運用を開始した。平成18年には広島県大学図書館協議会 と広島県公共図書館協会とが相互協力協定を締結した。今後も、広島大学図書館は、地域に貢献できる図書館を目指し ている。 Hiroshima University Library has held a long history of opening its facilities to the public. We began allowing citizen in 1907 shortly after our foundation, until 1960. Due to the development and relocation of Hiroshima University, we had kept undergone many re-organizations, mergers and relocations therefore the service to public was forced to be limited for years. However, in consideration of the needs of the local community, albeit, indirectly, the interlibrary loan service with Hiroshima City Library began in 1987 and the service with Hiroshima Prefectural Library began in 1993. Hiroshima University Library was reopened in 1995, when Hiroshima University's integrative relocation was completed.Celebratory events, Library tours and exhibitions of rare materials at newly constructed Central Library were held. The scope of our book lending service kept expanding from Hiroshima University graduates to students of University of the Air to staff members of nearby academic institutions. The visitors'entry procedure was simplified and the interlibrary loan service with Higashi-Hiroshima City Library was opened in 1997. In 2003, the book lending service for the public regardless of their academic status and qualifications was started. In 2005, the "Hiroshima University Library Friendly User" system started to offer wide-ranging library services for general users. In 2006, the association of university libraries in Hiroshima prefecture concluded the agreement of mutual cooperation with the association of Hiroshima prefecture public library. Hiroshima University Library will continue its contribution to the community. 貴重資料の公開 Exhibitions of rare materials 広島大学図書館は数多くの貴重な資料を所蔵しており、その中には、保存のため条件付利用しか許されないものがあ る。より数多くの方にこの貴重な資料に触れていただけるよう、展示会や講演会を開催し、画像データベースの整備も すすめている。 14 H I R O S H I M A U N I V E R S I T Y L I B R A RY Hiroshima University Library possess a great number of rare and valuable materials in its collection, although a big part of them are not in free use in order to preserve them. A variety of lecture classes are held in English. Both the Users' Guide and the Library homepage are available in English, and we are preparing translations of a broad range of information. In 2005, a satellite TV was set up in Central Library as part of service to foreign students. In 2006, a satellite TV was set up in East Library, too. It is an electronic library that collects and preserves intellectual digital materials from research activities on Hiroshima University and opens them to the public, and aims to a degree of recognition of Hiroshima University as a showcase. The Public Relations Committee, consisting of Library staff, makes up most of the web site content and is responsible for its operation and maintenance. 多言語OPAC Multilingual OPAC 平成15（2003）年、図書館システムの更新によってＯＰＡＣ（蔵 書検索）が多言語対応となり、中国語の簡体字や韓国語のハングル が表示できるようになった。 OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog) was designed to be multilingual with the renewal of the Library automation system in 2003. It is able to display Simplified Chinese characters and Hangul characters. Specially Imanaka Daigaku strained to restore the Asano Han. Imanaka Bunko is a collection of rare books and old manuscripts. This is the illustrated manuscript produced from the beginning of the Muromachi period to the middle of the Edo period.
