For many years EPHY-MESS is supporting temperature monitoring in electrical
motors, drives or gears for industrial applications. It was a short step to implement
this extensive knowledge in temperature sensors used in wind power plant. Thus
EPHY-MESS sensors are already been in use for over 20 years in the wind power
plants of global market leaders or OEM suppliers.
Accompanying new concepts of enhanced performance, the portfolio is adopted
today to the most advanced requirements for supervision and analysis of any
critical component of a wind turbine. The sensors have to withstand shock and
vibration, the contact with aggressive media and lubricants, saline atmosphere
combined with high degree of pollution.
Large wind power plants and difficult to reach offshore facilities require the highest
reliability and safety for all components under increasingly critical operating conditions. Reliable continuous temperature control plays an essential role. Standard
mounted coil head sensors, bearing sensors and slot resistance thermometers
monitor the temperature in generators, gearboxes and drives. The red dots in the

The results of the measured temperatures are used by control units to optimize
the power generation avoiding unplanned downtimes and benefitting in enlarged
maintenance cycles of the system. Every single one of these measurement tasks
is conducted under special operating conditions. Every temperature sensor has a
specific installation condition. The strength of the EPHY-MESS product portfolio
is to manufacture the exact individually optimized sensors for the benefit of wind
power plant suppliers, manufacturers and service companies.
EPHY-MESS is constantly collecting and expanding its comprehensive temperature monitoring knowledge for various wind plant concepts. This resulted e.g.
in the development of special nano-coated temperature sensors especially designed for offshore wind power concepts or for instance in the development of
temperature sensors for fuel cells. These own product ideas are developed and
discussed with potential customers. EPHY–MESS sees itself as a problem solver
and development partner for its customers.
