Es wurde 1959 eröffnet und ist das meistbesuchte Museum der Schweiz. Seine Ausstellungen reichen von der alten Gotthardpost des 19. Jahrhunderts bis zur Weltraum- und Kommunikationstechnik der Moderne. In seiner Vielfalt zeigt es die Entwicklungen von den ersten Dampflokomotiven über die ersten Automobile und die Schifffahrt bis zu den Luftseilbahnen. Das Planetarium verfügt über die grösste Leinwand der Schweiz und lässt das Publikum auf einzigartige Weise die Dimensionen von Natur und Kosmos erahnen. Im Hans Erni Museum präsentiert der 1909 in Luzern geborene Museu Maler und Künstler seine einzigartigen Werke. Hans Erni ist der populärste Schweizer Maler der Gegenwart und will mit seinen Bildern primär seine Vision von einer besseren und friedlichen Welt vermitteln.
