"I created this piece for Surfrider Foundation Oahu’s 2015 John Kelly Environmental Awards
held in Waimea Valley each year. This year’s theme of sacred places inspired me to
paint the Moli’i Fishpond located on the east side of Oahu. Moli’i is one of only 4 original
fishponds left on Oahu and is thought to be here from the earliest Hawaiian settlements on Oahu.
It is such a beautiful and serene area and I am so happy to work with organizations
around the world that fight to protect these sacred places for future generations to enjoy!" -H.Brown

University of Hawaii. I was imagining I was in a helicopter hovering along the island.
Traveling from Magic Island toward Diamond Head and seeing all the ocean waves breaking

The theme for this year's event is sacred places. I picked Waimea Bay
because it is one of my favorites and I wanted to showcase the inside wave called
